just keep your stock MAF, its good for over 500hp. if you get an after market MAF it will NEED to be tuned and wont give you any gains.....lots of people run into problems with aftermarket MAFs.....its just not worth it

An aftermarket maf is a good thing when you have a great tuner, a lot of cash, a lot of mods and a lot of time to get it right.

Unless you have all those stick with the stocker. Minimal gains for a lot of cash.

one of these days i hope to be a great tuner.

if you just have bolt ons, you could get a mail order tune from Frost at LSXtune.com

Next step for you will be a speed density tune not an aftermarket MAF.

I've popped the screen out of the OEM MAF.
The PCM is programmed for the OEM MAF.
A different MAF will require HP Tuners or LS1 Edit, in other words a brand of software which enables you to smooth out each of 26 cells controlling the engine under various loads.

Believe it or not popping the screen does a improves the air...

But, only pop the screen out if you have CAI tubing is smooth and not corigated. The idle sensor on the MAF looks for smooth air and your goat won't hold an idle...

I tried an off brand MAF in another vehicle, drove it for 30 minutes in the city, on the e-way and the PCM could not adjust. I stalled out 6 times and every light I pulled up to everybody else thought I wanted to race...

Also, could somebody explain a SD Tune - don't quite under stand the concept.

SD allows you to map the A/F...timing etc. versus a computer....you can get as aggressive as you wish and are not a slave to the MAF signals....
