Lost Key
I seem to have lost my key, don't know if my son took it or where I've put it. A severe case of dumba$$. Does anybody know how to open a 04 GTO without a key and without breaking a window? last place to check is the trunk of the goat. If not, does anybody know how to go about getting a replacement by going off of the VIN? Thanks a lot, any help is appreciated.

Call your local GM dealer and give them the VIN. They could probably duplicate the key for ya. If you TOTALLY lost the key, then you will need a replacement fob as well. You don't have a spare?

This thread is why I keep telling myself I need to order a spare. I only have one key as that's all I got when I bought the car used. I'm too much of a cheap ass to buy another key. One day i'm either going to loose the key(which I have never in my 11 yrs of driving lost or misplaced my keys) or the battery die in the fob and I'll be SOL.

You could buy the key part and have it cut then check eBay for a replacement fob and have it programmed at the dealer.

I had to replace a key a couple years ago. The keys are factory cut in Australia. More importantly than needing your VIN you must have your Key code. You sould have a small white card with this number and others. Found mine with the manual. Like was said before you will need to get the fob separate.
P.S. If you end up getting a new key you will find your old one, I did

Thanks a lot guys. I've just found the key in a facility at work. Don't know how in the hell it got there, but none the less, it was there on the floor. I wasn't even looking for it. I dropped a lid to a sample bottle of mine and went in to look for it, when I looked under a display panel, I seen the key ring and was SURPRISED to see it was the GTO key. WooHoo! Didn't bother looking for the lid anymore but still a little confused as to why it would've been down there in the first place. Damn gremlins.

BTW, I'm with JonB on this one. I never got a spare when I got the goat used and was also too cheap to get one. Guess what? I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to order a spare, in which case I'll probably loose the spare and later misplace the original again.
