    Intakes, headers and catbacks????

I am buying an 05 or 06 GTO this month and I'm trying to get a bead on which INTAKES (looking at the Volant, AEM, Lingenfelter, and K & N), HEADERS (Pacesetter, or Kooks), and CATBACKS (Borla, Kooks, and Magnaflow). There are so many choices. Anyone have a recommendation on what combo will make the most power and sound the best? I'm not looking for it to be incredibly loud or raspy; just a nice deep smooth sound. I'm fired up to pull the trigger on my GTO. My '68 Firebird is fun, but I need a daily driver with A/C. Thanks in advance for any advice or information.

The Kooks LTs will be more costly but deliver more power, thats documented. As far as CAI's I have a LPE but unless you go to a larger 4 inch version I don't think you'll find much difference unless it addresses moving the IAT to a cooler location. As for cat back I'd just listen to some videos to see what they sound like.

It's only going to fit the 05/06. ...and none have shipped yet, although they claim to be close.

That intake is pretty interesting. Would like to know more about it.

Does that black box seal it from the rest of the engine? Cause I wouldn't see any benefit from that BUT if not then its more of a true "ram-air" set-up when you pop the vents off the hood!

It was originally supposed to be a OTRCAI but then they settled on making it to just pull air in from the 05/06 hood scoops. Nobody knows what gains might come from it since they keep pushing the shipping date back each week. It's supposed to seal off hot air inside the engine compartment ... people will find out pretty quick if it actually does. A bunch of people jumped in on a pre-production sale price so that group will let the rest of us know pretty fast I would guess.

LPE and IAT? I'm clueless on some of these abbreviations. What are you referring to? Give me a little time I'll catch on. Thanks for the other info.

I've seen several GTO's with cam modifications; Does this lessen the reliability, and gas mileage? I'm looking forward to the decent gas mileage that GTO owners claim; does a cam swap kill or improve the fuel economy?

As long as you get a dyno tune you'll be fine...my MPGs improved on the highway.

224 cam in mine now with lots of street tuning. new I averaged 16mpg, heads/cam and all bolt ons with a lot more power I'm averaging 20mpg
I'm an a4 so an m6 would get even better mpg

With cam/LT headers/exhaust/CAI/dyno Tune/... I lost about maybe 1-2 mpg city, but highway went up to about 21-23 MPG.. I was thinking cause they put a higher idle cause cam..that why i lost mpg/city...but its all worth it...

I've lost some in the city I'm around 16 I think but that's mainly due to the 3200 stall.

I think Kooks has their own website. if you do a search for parts, do a search for "Holden Monero"....that usually get me what I want quicker
