YJ- 04 GTO M6
I destroyed my car this weekend!
I was on the freeway saturday night driving home when I hit this centerblock/bolder that was on the road. I had traffic around me so I couldnt get around it and I hit it dead on doing 70/75ish mph. It scraped the bottom of the front facia on my GTO leaving some scratches and a small crack, then continued to the skidplate(anybody who knows or has a gto knows about how thick the skidplate is, my guess is 10 gauge metal, maybe thicker?) put a huge dent on the skidplate which put a crack in the oil pan. Continued onto the transmission and now it makes a weird noise going into 1st gear from neutral like a thud. Continued onto my rear end and I felt my rear end jump up a little bit when it went over whatever I hit and now my rear end has a howl I called insurance and am taking it to a shop this week to get looked at. I cannot believe that this could happen all because someone on the road didnt secure his item on the vehicle he was driving. I think the impact literally pushed the engine into the tranny which the driveshaft was pushed into the rear end. Now my concern is I have no oil in my engine. Someone was telling me that if it gets cold enough the internals of the engine can get ruined because there is no lubrication? Is that true? It gets around 30-34 at nights. Give me your feedback on the problem.
Thanks
Tyler

whatever you do DO NOT START YOUR CAR, no oil? of course your internals are going to be ruined, with or without cold weather

I know, I havent started my car since I got home after hitting whatever I hit. I have a little more common sense than that. But the thought of a rebuilt engine with all the goodies would be fun

To bad it wasn't a trans am, you could have just downshifted and did a wheelie over it.

I'm still not sure why you decided to drive the GTO home. If its anything that I've learned from my 5 or so accidents is 1. Never leave the scene(depending on who you are if you know what I mean) 2. Always call the cops not matter what and 3) unless it's a fender bender don't drive you car home that's where the insurance for towing comes in handy.

Fanta Z, what is a centerblock/bolder? Is it part of the road?

Beats the hell out of me.
Its going to the local pontiac dealership tomorrow. Only problem is I took my car in for the rear end once there and they didnt help me, when the howling was a minimal. When I hit the rock, it makes the worst noise, even when im rolling at 5 mph. So now im guessing that they will probably say it didnt happen during the accident because they have records.
Im for sure getting a new bumper though, already got the go ahead on that. And they are going to paint my SAP grilles and front end like this.
