There are octane boosters. That's what my friends dad has to buy for his porsche to get 100 octane with premium

I'd buy a C6 Z06 instead get a few bolts on and save the 30k..

Per Dec '06 "Car and Driver" magazine:
    engine: DOHC 32-valve 534 bhp @7100hp, torque 440 lb-ft @ 5300

    times:
    0-60: 3.9 sec
    1/4 mi: 12.1 sec

    top speed: about 200mi/hr
    fuel: 100 octane
    weight: 3300 lbs
    tranny: 6 speed sequential

and now the kicker: price: $110,000
I hate how they're trying to turn mustangs into supercars.

yep, 12.1 for 534bhp is high, a C6 Z06 will eat that for breakfast. they do 11.6-11.5 all day
and you still save 30-40k, mustang eat this..

I actually think they handle a bit better than F-bods, due to the IRS, everyone gives credit to the LS-2 for having a good top-end, but I've driven in both F-Bods and the 05-06 GTO and I think they're preety close on the low-end as well, I've ran a 2002 WS-6 with a lid and exhaust, when I was stock and he never pulled away whatsoever, and that was from a dig, the Ws-6 driver is a friend of mine and I'd say he's a good driver. But by a 100 I was edging him.

I have to say having own both a 2000 SS and an 05 GTO stock for stock they run nearly the same in the quarter. ET's are in the mid 13's with a good launch. Hookin one at the track is much harder than an f-body. Maybe the 05 have slight edge over the 04 LS1 version GTO in ET. But mod for mod the LS2 has the advantage in power.

And regarding octane booster. If you've ever seen what it does to your heads and cylinder walls you'll never use it again. Prolong use of octane booster causes rust in your heads. I know this first hand when I swaped heads. My suggestion is to go with 100 trick fuel if you can find it at your local gas station to boost your octane.

Unless your running 40* of timing or 150 real hp unit your wasting money on octane booster........
Unless your cylinder pressure is high you will actually see a loss in hp by putting higher octane......
The higher the # the slower it burns.......There fore when you run a 100 octane and you really only need 92 the flame travel in the combustion chamber is way off for optimal power.

    That's my 2 cents..
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

    Talking Myth Busted

I have to agree with the too much octane looses power.

    I actually have access to 90, 95 and 100 octane fuel...at no more than $1.18 a gallon...

At 90 octane i noticed my knock sensor was going crazy, i drained the tank, reseted the ecu and poured in 95 octane. I noticed more power, much less knock and a decent run. I again drained the tank and filled the sucker with 100 octane, reseted the ECU and i had to mention i had NO knock at all, however i wasnt pullin as hard as i was with the 95 octane. Milage was good, but again i did lose some power.

Now i have to put my little disclaimer here:
Though i do not have true evidence of these changes from dyno runs, i did have my EFI live program on and did witness fuel consumption, Knock, and ignition advance. Additionally i did run timed runs and compared the above mentioned parameters.

Phew, thats a load off my lawyer...

I have run a few WS6's in my stock 04 GTO and stock for stock I had each by about a car or so...that was up top....I didnt pull until about 100 or so and thats from about 25-35 punch...I havent got to run a stock 05-06 yet but that doesnt seem right if its neck and neck with a ws6 and a 05-06??? I drove a 06 M6 at a local dealer and it didnt feel much quicker if any just more wheel-spin

I had the reverse experience, I ran a 04 GTO and beat it by a car length 40 to 120ish.

I just picked up an 04 GTO and it rides much nicer than my 98 Z28 did. Speed wise since I had some minor mods to the Z28 I would say the GTO pulls just a little harder. Both are great cars but as far as a DD nothing beats the comfort of the GTO.

Yea I just meant stock for stock they drive a little better that's all...If I could have my way I would own both an f-bod and a GTO. I just sold my camaro b/c I was supposed to move upstate then bought a truck, then got into D-school on LI so I sold my truck and picked up a GTO. I still miss my 98 Z she was good to me

That mustang is pretty much a road race car and not a street car, it's all gutted out with a racing built motor and real expensive tranny.
