Headers
Do you need to buy the mid pipes with the headers on an 04 gto? or will they bolt up to stock exhaust?

I can't help you but I have a question an thought this would be a good place to put it. I cut out my cats and I currently have it dumped with magnaflows, before that I had dynomax bullets on it. I don't really like the sound of my exhaust on my car and I read somwhere on here that me cutting my cats out that I lost TQ. So what is a good muffler and somthing to help me get that TQ. back. And I like loud and droning in the car doesn't bother me. Hopefully sarge will help me out?

Well you need to put more info in your ?.
Yes and No. It all depends on who's headers you have bought. Some are a "mid" length that connect to factory type mid pipes. Others offer a full length primary tube merging into a regular collector which would require an after market set of mid pipes.Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

the stainless works headers and the pacesetters both have been on my car they both require mid pipes and they are called off road pipes thus eliminating the cats otherwise the stock cats need to be thrown out they cost you around 8hp.if you want something thats sounds good and makes you power get a stainless one peice xpipe.I have the x pipe on my setup no mufflers at all except the muffler bearings ..
heres a shot of how mine looks keep in mind ,mine is setup for my turbos.thus the vband clamps .

I have a set of 3" bullet mufflers right off the headers (cut and rewelded the ends at an angle) and slid a set of 3" 44's on the end of the bullets so the outlets are right next to the driveshaft, then ran dual 3" strait out the back on each side of the diff.
the 44' s are a world apart from the 80 series, they flow so much better

I love them ,they work very well, cost a lot less then the so called kits, dont have all the mess or heat up front in the engine compartment, proof is in the facts..here is a clip I just ran 8.23.08 the other guy has a build motor mine is stock he has a APS kit with 10 psi, mine had 10 psi with broken valve springs(inners) I still put a few bus lenghts on him,OH also this guy is a tuner has tuned a lot of the buckeye states GTOs.
