Has anyone done a Muffler delete?

I have the Magnaflow catback, neat european sound and appropriate for most of the time, but I'm still yearning for that in-your-face exhaust that my SS had with a loudmouth 1 system. I think an easy solution would be to delete the mufflers and add stright pipes out the back, has anyone done something like this, if so did you like the sound?

Yeah, can't justify $400 for Kooks, seems I would do fine to just run custom straight pipes from the axel back, or add cutouts...

I run deletes from time to time, muffler shop built them for me for $200. Sounds mean and loud, a lot of popping with down shifts, but if you like loud, you will like, with your x-pipe it might quiet the popping down.

If you want loud and don't care about the sound then go for it.

my dads 05 GTO had muffler deletes with straight pipes running all the way back. had a loud DEEP sound to it but had a ton of snap crackle and pop downshifting pushing the clutch in or just letting off the gas. i hate the backfire sound so we went with xpipe and it smoothed the ton down and took most of the crackle out.

With the factory LS2 X-pipe/resonator, all you need are the muff deletes. Any exhaust shop should be able to bend the pipes and weld tips on of your choosing.

Sounds great, I that's what I was thinking so thanks for confirming... The x-pipe seems to reallt smooth things out, combined with muffler deletes it seems it would be a great combo.

Muffler delete gets louder when you put headers/high flow cats on. I thought mine was just loud enough before but now with headers it is really loud at WOT.

I also have the Magnaflow system. Sounds good, but nothing like my SS. Would a set of LT's wake up the sound? She sounds great at full throttle, but part throttle is only OK.

IF you mean better than iron mani's then yes it will sound a whole lot better imho. The tone will be different when she's in gear and under a load too..
