    2004 Pontiac GTO

    Hand brake

    My hand brake works but wont stay locked. Does anybody else have this problem

    By "won't stay locked" do you mean the handle drops back down flat or the car still moves with the lever in the upright position?

    Check under the rubber boot of the parking brake lever with the passenger seat slid all the way back. The nut could have come loose. I have heard that the ratcheting mechanism fails and the handle has to be replaced.
