    gto purchase?

So my girlfriend and I went to Texas Direct Auto to look at a 2004 GTO a4. Black with black interior. We took it for a drive and it drives really well. They were asking $12,800 after the ebay discount. The car has 35,700 miles. Does this seem like a good deal for this car? Everything looks good on the car from the paint to the carpet. Just lookin for some feedback since shes thinkin really hard about this deal.

well the place is a "no haggle" place and before we even talked price he told me the price on the car is as low as it gets, besides the discount if i give him my ebay account...origional price is $13,800 ..subtract $1000 for the ebay discount and it comes to $12,800.

Sounds like a good deal. 04 Auto is about as cheap as you will find. A dealership around me had one on their lot for 6-8 months for that price. Although it had about 80k on it. Any mods?

Most dealerships here in iowa think they have the rarest car in the world there was one here in cedar rapids Iowa with 46k they thought 18k was a good deal when I was trying to talk them down lol. Just look around before you pull the trigger.

only thing that i can see on the car was k&n intake....nothing else...shes still contemplating....its on of the best deals on these cars ive seen as of late...but if she waits too long shes gonna miss it...then im gonna have to hear her whine about it for months....its what she does.

I am happy with my 06. Check the rear seat head rests for seem splits. Mine did it and went back under warranty twice before it was fixed right. I am pretty sure the 04's didn't have the ignition lock problem. Carfax is your friend!

I agree with the varying prices statements. I bought mine for a lil over $18k but the car is modded and I got a powertrain/wheel warranty. Had 48k on the odometer. Would have been, IIRC, $14k if I wanted the car de-modded. But I kept the mods.

12.8k is'nt a bad price... mine has 12,000 miles and i only get a trade in of 13,000 that lets you know they dont hold their value, but IMO the gto's are a very nice car. i wanted a ws6 but the interior did'nt look or feel anywhere near as good as the gto.

i was going to sell it, but i think i'll keep it for a while. i say jump on it.

Jump on it. I have both an '04 and '06 and was contemplating trading the '04 for a CTS for my wife. It has 20k and I couldn't do it. Now, the '06 is the garage queen, the '04 my daily driver, and wife has her CTS. FWIW, I was offered 16k for the '04 as trade in. The car is TOTALLY original except the tires, oil, and filters. Both were bought brand new.

For the guy who thinks GTO's don't hold value, I have one question. What 2004 comparable car has better resale? I'm talking unmodified, well-taken-care-of cars.

GTO's are nice cars for the money, 12.8K isn't bad for a clean low mileage GTO.

I'd prefer an M6 tranny but that's me.
