    gasket for header install....

What type of gasket goes between the mids and resonator on the 05-06? Is it graphite gaskets or a single piece gasket? My 04 has 2 graphite gaskets there but the resonators are different on the 04's vs the 05+.

cool, I'll have him run to a dealership. The mid to catback on my 04 has 2 single graphite gaskets on it. It looks different on the exhaust diagrams. The 05-06 looks like what you described ( a single piece).

    You don't even need it.

Ultra Cooper Permatex will seal it tighter than a drum.

Spread a small amount on the flange after cleaning with brake clean allow it to sit up for 10-15 min and bolt up. No leaks done it 20-30 times now.

he got his stuff in today and said there were gaskets in there for the mids. He said there were 2 gaskets though and not a single. I'm going to have to look at his stuff and take inventory to see what he needs. I just used permatex today on my own exhaust. I'd like to have him a gasket in there though so I don't have to listen to him if it leaks.

O2 threads are 18mm x 1.5 pitch correct? I'm going tomorrow and pick up some bolts to use as bung plugs. Everything should go pretty smooth. I'm leary of having to drop the damn rack though. I've read over and over how big of a pain in the ass the lines are. I've also read where people have had trouble with stuff though and I don't seem to have the same trouble so I'm hoping this is one of those instances.
I plan on making several angled marks around the rack so I can hopefully get it lined up exact. I'm going to mark the knuckle on the steering shaft too.

the gaskest they send you are junk, get the GM one if its not metal, just cut mine down the middle and reasembled it,I used the stock one put that permatex on both side let er setup some and wa la.Im sure you can get thet rack thing figured if you have any question call me.the two 18 mm bolts are a breeze just let rack drop out of the way,the darn flared lines are the problem one tightens before the other do one from top of car other from bottom, inside one first they are two diffrent sizes, also have something to drain resevoir fluid into makes a big mess!MAKE damn sure that wheel dont turn more then 1 1/2 revolutions if you do you will be replacing the wheel controls aka coiled inside the steering wheel.best to have a guy to help inside car.that knuckle can be a real bitch..drivers side is a pain, last header install took me less then 2 hours, call me. headers are in....qwkgto came out and gave me a hand with them. I couldn't see doing it on stands although it could be done. The lift made it much easier. I think we did it in 4.5-5 hours or something like that with a lunch break in there.

I signed all of us up for that october date at trails through CR. Mike may go, he said something about wanting to take the 64 down the track once before he sells it. I can see where he's coming from. Having it for a long time and never racing it, might be cool to make a couple passes in it before you sell it.
