Exhaust "notes" are like women. One guy may love his Borla and the next guy hates it. Sounds to me like your a candidate for the LoudMouth II's though...

    Heh. No doubt.

A rule of thumb I learned from my Mustang days:

X pipe plus straight through mufflers like magnaflow = more exotic-ish sound

H pipe plus chambered mufflers like flowmaster = more classic muscle car sound

Probably carries over to GTO's as well.

The ONE thing I wish I could 'transfer' to my GTO, is the way my old Mustangs sounded. I don't care what anyone says: Long tubes, H Pipes, and a nice set of Flowmasters on a Mustang is pure aural heaven.

Isn't there a website that has sound bites from LS1 exhaust combos?

I have a borla. they are much more unique sounding. All flowmaster sound similar. its hard to tell the difference between a stang, a truck, or a camaro with flows.

Yes the side exit kit sounds bad ass too!!! I'm going with the rear exit just cause i haven't had any luck finding a smooth bumper cover with out the cut outs. So I'll settle for the rear exit with the 4" tips.
Was trying to break the 10's before I did anymore changes but between the weather lately and the misses I don't think it'll happen.

Yeah, true enough. Which is too bad though. There's no sweeter sound than a Mustang.

    TRUE THAT!!!
Too bad they redesigned them 4-5 years ago. They lost that OG tingy sound that made them what they are today. The VP told use 4 years ago they did the redesign to get a few more hp. I know 20-30 people who would loose 5 hp to get that classic sound. Thank God I saved my original 1 chambers from 97. Actually just droped them off with the new 3 1/2" pipes at JetHot last week.

It would seem to me, that it would be difficult to gauge what a GTO would sound like with Flowmasters (as example) versus a SS Camaro or any of the other Fbodies. The GTO has an Hpipe, whereas the FBodies have Ypipes (IIRC).

Would be nice if we could have our own little site. Let me ponder this....
