evap solenoid
I checked the treads, didn't see any on the GTO about the evap. Long story short. She started idiling rough and smoking like it was runing rich It burned a quarter tank of gas (Shell 93 octane) in less than 50 miles. Took it to dealer they replaced EVAP SOLENOID and so far so good. My question number 1 is has this happened to anyone else, and number 2 is this a sign of any other potential problems.
One last thing, If I hear one more A HOLE refer to my car as a "cool looking Mustang" I'm going to park in there colon!

1. No
2. Don't worry. A bad solenoid just happens some times.

Sorry guys for late reply busy week. I havn't taken it in yet, engine light hasn't came on yet. Last couple of days no problem untill today on the way home strange as hell. I agree with you SPEILDAWG dealers suck they said in so many words, "that they can't really do anything till the engine light comes on and records it the computer" blah blah blah!

The gas cap will cause the same code if I am not mistaken? It is a common issue with GTO's. Check here for the gas cap http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83644. I'd try that first.

I know there's been issues with those solenoids. Not sure about them failing but I know they tend to make a racket back there. You can hear the one on my brothers 06 from time to time.

maybe over filling the gas tank? don't know if that could cause it or not, maybe low or high voltage burning them up?

Sarge is suggesting the MAF is mal-functioning and making her run rich. I do not know what mods you have, but if you have a cotton based filter take the MAF out and clean it...over oiling the filter messes with the reads.
You've dicked around with this with a dealer. 9 times out ten they have their head up their a$$ in my opinion.

Thanks silver. CAI so far only mod. Yes I agree, something is making the evap go out I will look into MAF, from the start more fingers where pointed at that then anything else. The first evap went out before CAI was installed don't know if that make a difference other than ruling something else out.
