    Cam for a Ls2

    I'm rebuilding a engine for a 06 GTO that spun a #6 rod bearing...new crank,new rods,bearings,etc.

The engine is out of the car to disassemble and remove all debris from the bearing failure. What would be a decent cam....nothing to extreme....that would work well with the Ls2 with stock 243 heads.

I would hate to put the stock cam back in while i have this thing all apart, just looking for some feedback from other people on this site as far as cam selection goes with the Ls2's

    It's an m6 car.

Look at new eras website and look at the HT streetsweeper cam. what are your plans for the car?

A 228 cam with at or just under .600"lift makes a good bump in power across the board and has great street manners with a good tune. 112lsa will give some more lope around idle and 114 lsa will sound more stock

It's not my car,it's a friend of a friend's car.Basically the guy want's a little bit more power out of it and since the engine is out for repair now is the time to do it.I noticed the pass side head is a 243 casting so I figured a cam would be the way to go.

    How would a Ms3 cam be in a Ls2?That's pretty close to Ms3 specs,right?

MS3 is a big cam but you can tune the car to tame it the Tq V.3 or Tq V.2 from texas speed would also be a damn good cam an very street able.

I agree, plus if you keep the lift at or below .600" your valve springs will last much longer in a mainly street driven car.

I was running a 238/242 in my ls1, it was drivable but bitchy lol
