This is a discussion on Been testing Oil within the GTO forums, part of the Vehicle Specific category; Actually your not the first to send me that But thank you. It is very focused on two stroke applications ...

It is very focused on two stroke applications and not as a fuel mix as you know. We do not look to the 2stroke oil as a lubrication for our crank/cylinder/rings etc.
What we are discussing/testing/sharing has more to do with certain properties in the TCW-3 that make it a excellent fuel add to gasoline in a 4 stroke engine. Also our mix ratio is significantly lighter.

With that said....I do not see anything in the JASO FC spec that scares me adding it as a fuel add in a 4 stroke.

Thank you for participating and adding your thoughts/experimenting with us.

I meant to ask ......what are your observations using the TCW-3 stuff from Amsoil?

Well I started with Lucas I did not like it for the high flash point temperature and the car if I was putting more than 1:700 ratio was loosing power.

Then I tried normal tcw3 much better than Lucas, the car wasn't losing power at the same ratio.

Then I tried AMSOIL Synthetic, the benefit that I saw straight away was that at the same ratio the exhausting pipe become more clean, the second benefit is that doesn't smell like kerosene.

I use a ratio more lean than 1:500 I go between 1:680 and 1:720, if I put more than that my car loose power.

With this ratio I have all the benefits, smoother idle, better start, more clean exhaust pipe so i guess an engine more clean, and of course better protection against the rust in the fuel system.

Yes....many "adjust" to their particular motor. I may get CompSyn to send me some of this Amssoil TCW3 stuff.

There is another thing that worry me to use heavier ratio .

We do not have to forget that Tcw3 contains solvents which can effect the motor oil especially for long drain oil change.

I change the oil once a year and I do hard driving mainly short trip and cold start here in Canada.

Since I get better Idle at 1:720 I do not go over.

So rough math, that would be 1oz for every 5.625 gallons of gas (1 gallon = 128 fl oz), correct?

First impressions after three days of driving, the average mpg readout is 10.7 mpg, so an improvement of 1.2mpg city/hwy driving. (I use E85 and have 75# injectors, so terrible mpg is expected). I usually get 9.3-9.7 in the city and have for the past month or so, ever since I got tuned for E85.

Obviously this is with 30-40 miles driven, hardly scientific, but just wanted to post up an update. When I fill up next time, I will put pen to paper an calculate and actual, non-GM computer average mpg.

I just finished using my 1st quart of penzoil marine tcw3. I can see improvements in my idle and I want to continue using it. I wanted to get the supertech brand from walmart but it doesn't say that is marine type. Can I use it (it says tcw3 rating on it) or do I need to stick with a marine type? Supertech is cheaper. thanks.

TCW3 is all your looking for. It does not say "marine" on it. Just TCW3.

I reckon the guy with the 454 burb might really benefit from this. My 5.3 has a bit

Just started treatment on my 09 g8 gt. I've been running a catch can for a while and my exhaust tips are still getting coated black. I know this helped some with my ta, so I guess ill see if there's any improvement.

Running roughly 1oz per 5 gal.

Edit: Sarge, can you enlighten me on some of the other contributing factors of having black exhaust. I feel my car may not be efficiently burning all the fuel.

Thx Sarge. Could running higher grade fuel than what stock is tuned for be a scenario also?
