abs; traction control
I have an 04 gto 59000 miles automatic this morning I hit a curb hard now abs light is on and traction control is off but won't turn back on I have no clue where to start the car drives fine and acts like it has no problems but the rear end on this thing is obviously way different then my previous z28's any ideas or similar problems?? Thank you

Sounds like a wheel speed sensor either crapped out or became disconnected in the impact. Any parts store can scan the ABS system for codes and that will point you in the right direction. Worse case scenario would be that you broke a reluctor ring, but that would have to have been one hell of an impact and probably would have broken other stuff as well.

I agree with Jeff. Also, have the front end checked to see if you possibly have a bad right front wheel bearing. Could have some play and is causing the code.

Thank you guys I haven't been on here in awhile but it ended up just being the right rear wheel speed sensor and I didn't realize the traction control just shuts off when the abs comes on

That's how the system works -- when it senses a change in wheel speed, or the lack of a signal (like when a wheel is locked up under heavy braking) then it goes into action. It is designed to allow for a minimal difference in wheel diamter and does not activate under normal cornering and such when wheel speeds differ. Traction control equipped cars have sensors at both rear wheels, while ABS-only cars have a sensor mounted on the differential housing (in most domestic cars).
