Or the speed sensor is out of adjusment/misaligned. I know one of the moderators on the GTO forum talked me through something like this when I bought mine. The previous owner put the Harrop in and he put a bracket on to make the pass rear sensor sit farther back than the driver side and I kept getting ABS FAULT codes. Got underneath, pulled the bracket off and shimmed the sensor and reinstalled. No codes and all is still good. Now I gotta get a new flasher...I keep blowin fuses when I turn.

Why, why are you trying to accelerate in 6th gear. Of course its not!!! Any manual car with the 6 speed is NOT meant to "put you back into the seat" in 6th gear.

Its an OVERDRIVE gear!!! Thats it, thats all its supposed to be. If you want to go fast and accelerate hard doing 60 MPH why in the heck would you be in 6th gear. Put it in 3rd gear and try again. I dont know what your expecting from 6th gear, its not meant to accelerate hard. Its a overdrive, overdrive. My TA wont accelerate in 6th gear either. Because its an overdrive. Over...Drive. Nothing is wrong with your car, your choosing the wrong gear to try and accelerate.

Yeah, I row back to fifth or fourth on the highway to bolt up from 60.

Hell with 4th. At 60 you can easily go into 3rd. Maybe even 2nd depending on your rear gear.

Plain and simple... dont expect your car to feel fast when you go WOT in 6th gear. Just aint gonna happen, and it aint supposed to.

I F$@&ing know that!!!! DUDE! I know I am not going to go into warp speed in 6th, if I want to get on it I drop to 3 and let all hell break loose, I'm saying my f*&^%ing traction control will deactivate ALL BY ITSELF for no F(^%ing reason! GOT IT? I do alot of highway driving and usually doing 60-95...pending...but for some odd reason when i want to just CRUISE a little faster to keep up with the pace I don't have to drop it into 3 to get where I want. I just want to go a 5 - 10 mph faster. Getting from A to B doesn't always have to be a race! I notice something burning and the TRACTION CONTROL TURNS OFF AND IT WON'T GO BACK ON!!!! and 6th SEEMS non-existent!!!!!!!! Like it's DEAD! GOT IT? !!!!!!

Have you gotten under the car to look at the rear speed sensors?

And the TC should be on, that is the normal default. If it is actually active and working when you are doing normal driving, then yes that is a problem. I sure would like to test drive some of these cars that people are having a problem with, it is hard to diagnose things from descriptions sometimes.
TC is always enabled but not active. It could be any gear. It only came on while I was in 6th, not that it can't do it in any other gear. Its that I'm in 6th when its seems to deactivate.

If you look at the rear diff, on either side there are gear lookin things on the axles. There are black circular things with wires right above the gear lookin things. Try to eyeball them real good. See if either of them are too close/far away from the gear lookin things. IIRC the gap should be as thin as a credit card. I'm wondering if there is a fault from a vibration. Maybe a loose speed sensor? But no code.

This is VERY interesting. Hmmm...T/C stays on but shuts off at 60 and above. Something is indeed outta whack. Either there is dirt built up on the speed sensors, the speed sensors are out of range, since they are magnets, or a sensor is on the way out being there are no codes being thrown. BUT, if the dealer had a decent scanner compatible with our cars, the tech(s) should have found something. When I had the ABS code I brought mine in my bay and threw the scanner on it and got a low voltage code. Turned out the pass sensor was out of range of the exciter ring(gear lookin thing) on the axle.

could be some tiny peices of metal on those reluctors as well, they have magnets in the sensors they attract metal really easily.either way easy fix

sounds to me like nothigns wrong with your car, to accelerate at that speed/gear your car isnt going to have anything, thats like bucnhing your car from a 10 mph roll in 4th....its guna be very sluggish and very slow until it hits the speed thats meant for that gear....just MO
