2004 gto bcm
I took my gto to the dealer because it was having a hard time starting and they said the BCM had to be replaced. Is this common and what is it used for?

what exactly was it doing when it wouldn't start? Just turning over, starting for a few seconds and shutting off, or not doing anything?

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
I have heard of this issue. The BCM would lose memory and would either have to be reflashed or replaced with the key fobs.
If I recall, the BCM controls the anti-theft system, exterior and interior lighting, radio and HVAC controls.

BCM
Dealer said they ordered the BCM and will replace it but nothing was mentioned about the keyless remotes which according to ALLDATA must be replaced. Why are new remotes required vs. reprogramming them.

Once the fobs are keyed to the BCM, it's a done deal.
