Black on Black- 2004 GTO (M6)
04 to 06 Exhaust Conversion...NEED SOME HELP
I currently have an 04 Goat with the single side exhaust. I just recently picked up an 06 bumper with the split dual exhaust. My question is should I be looking for an 04 exhaust that is made to convert to the dual exit (like the stainless works cat-back that converts an 04 to the dual exit 05-06)? Or should I be shopping for an 05-06 exhaust and if so, what are the conversiions that need to be made? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Its not that bad. Buy a 05/06 exhaust and take it to an exhaust shop and have them fab it to fit. Shouldnt take more than 2 hours if everything goes well. The only problem is from the midpipes back because they wont fit the newer exhaust.

Well I'm trying to make this as easy as possible. Has anyone had any experience with the stainless works "04 exhaust w/ 05-06 bumper" cat-back kit?

The mufflers are not in the same in position on 05/06 if I recall???
I beleive they're past the rear axle on the 05/06.
On the 04 they are located just past the trans.
I bought a Borla dual system exiting both left and right side (04).
I also bought the sleeves on PFYC.com produced by Banshee.
It comes with template. I did the left side first, then the right.
The rear valance rolls under so I had to be careful with the dremel...
Under the right side you have to remove a panel and there's a threaded hole in the proper location to mount the hanging bracket...

black- 2004 gto
to change the exhaust from 04 to 05 06 you need the mid pipes cat back and add a pass side exhaust hanger...

I also went with the 2004 Borla kit and Banshee Speedbuilt inserts. Here are some closeup pics. I think that they turned out great and look better than the 2005/2006 with that black in the middle of the rear bumper.
