it depends how far you will race, the longer the better chance for you. Otherwise if he can launch that thing i think he's got you.

your car w/ the gears it has runs 13.6's at the track a stock gt is a 14sec car. Take all doubt out of the equation and do your roll race, find your sweet spots in 1st and 2nd (3500rpm) then knock on his door.

Should be damn close, but I think he would have the edge. Go to a drag strip if you can, that way you can compare ETs and 1/4 mile times. If you had a looser convertor, it would probably be your kill.

I would have to give this to the GT. 4.10's and a stick will give you alot of pull fast. 2.73's just plaing suck. I have 3.23's in my 98 A4 TA and there ok at best. I had 2.73 's in a 5spd GT I used to have and swapped to 3.73 and it was night and day. I raced someone with identical mods to me with 4.10's in a 1/8 and he pulled on through all the gears. If you dump the 2.72 for either 3.73 or at least a 3.42 your car should win.

I always had BFG DR's on my GT soon as I changed the gears. We had some great street racing spots when I lived in MA. I 1/8 strech on a hardly driven road near a mall and the overpass to over pass on the highway was a nearly perfect 1/4 mile.

I've always gone factory. When I had GT's I used ford gears and when I replaced the worn gears in my TA I used GM. If you go the stock rear use GM gears. I know using factory gears I've never had and noise issues. I know alot of GT guys that had richmonfd and they wined a little

whining is normally a sign that there is too much bearing preload or not enough backlash. All the same i hear that richmond are too noisy even under perfect installation, I think it has to due with the metal they use.

i agree with what the guy said down there, if its a short race, i give it to the gt, but if its like 30 to 120 then i give it to you.. just watch out because with that 5 speed and 4.10s hes gonna yank you hard, so make sure you dont get anxious and mess up. good luck

So i think i'm gonna go with the motive 3:42 gear cause i want to be able to drive on the interstate a little if i have to. Does that sound good?

How much high way do you do? You can still go with a steeper gear, say 3.73's and still only be at 2000 rpm @ 60 mph. Depending on how much highway I would go with the 3.73 as long as your gonna both changing it. JMO
