Because if they wanted to race, they'd have bought a FAST car.

J/K. Honestly though, there are a ton of Mustang guys that'll race, and a ton that'll easily beat me. Those Cobra guys come to mind.

On the other hand, there are quite a few GT owners who'll never race. It's kinda like most vette owners out there, very few will race. I think I've only raced ONE vette in the last 4 years.

If you have a hard time finding races, just act like a jackass.

Rev your engine, and yell something stupid out the window. "Your car sucks!" Never tried it, but it seems like it'd work.

get over it LS1s are old, chevy has made so many motors that beat it now and what about all the new SRT-8s? they would fuck your shit up, man....so get over the fact you paid so much for an ugly car

Ugly car?? I'm sorry but my TA will turn heads everywhere instead of your Rustang which you and everybody else's mother has The fact remains Rustangs are way underpowered from factory (except Cobras). The new Rustang with 300hp?? is that a joke? Dude there are SUVs out there with more power!! LOSER!

Honestly, Mustangs are slow. GTs are slow. Modded GTs aren't as slow. Mach Is are decent. '03-'04 Cobras will have the edge on a stock LS1.

I guess to answer your question... because they aren't in either a Mach I or Cobra.

The only mustang owners that talk shit are the cobra owners with their super chargers.
Wonder what a LS1 super charged could do to the cobra.
Fords been behind in the HP department since 1993 when the 275hp LT-1 was put into the f-body.....The last F-body was in 2002 putting out 335hp LS1 ram air.
3 years later ford still only has 300hp.......The only way to get good power out of them is with forced induction.
I also read something about the hemi...given trouble to the LS1.....I don't think so.
Took out a 300c with my 95 LT-1 formula M6 (sold it now).....Ya the srt-8 with 420hp might be another story.Dollar for dollar you won't see to many of them around with the 45K to 50K price tag.
My SUV comes in around 4500lbs with its 395hp LS2 AWD and it moves...The srt-8 charger comes in around the same weight and its a car...400hp is the right combo for this weight class.

People just need to learn to give credit where it's due.

    The 03+ Cobra is fast.

I can't believe you pulled out the "imagine an LS1 with a supercharger" argument.

You might as well say, "imagine a 2001 Cobra with 5.7 liters."

Power is power. Forced induction is one way to do it, displacement is another. What matters in the end is:

    How much power you make
    Reliability
    Cost
    Fuel economy
    Modibility
    Weight
    etc.

How you get these things??? Who cares? As long as you've got em.

In terms of overall power and how cheap and easy an 03 Cobra is to mod, that makes me jealous. I'm just giving credit where it's due.

Also, the TB SS is very sweet (my brother has one). BUT, an SRT-8 charger would blow your doors off. I'm not sure why you brought that one up.

geeze im sorry, but the WS6 trans am is THE BEST looking sports car out there right now. for the price anyway. now if you are strictly talking between an 05 stang and an 02 trans am WS6. im sorry junior, but the trans am has it hands down in all categories. so go sit down shut up, and go back to your petty ford boards. peace

ill give it to you, that a modded ls1 is fast, but unless you have some pretty good mods im going to blow your ugly doors off that p.o.s. f-body pig of a car

So, you're calling out someone who lives thousands of miles away? If you're going to drive out there just to race, and then drive back, you're dumber than I first thought. Who is this assclown?

This thread is reminding me more and more of Streetmaster and the '98-'02 era on LS1!

    1) Someone saying a FBod is ugly - CHECK!
    2) Someone saying their late model, worked over Fox Body/ SN95 will beat a stock FBod -CHECK!
    3) Absolutely no pictures, time slips or other physical proof given to back up any ascertation- CHECK!

    Looks like it to me

Interesting. I have a recorded interview with Coletti stating that the designer's worked extremely hard on the 03-04 Cobra's engine design... and even after a variety of engine configuration's (eg; longer stroke, and/or more cubic inches), "we just couldn't achieve the same power level as we could with the blower".

In the end though I'd have to agree, more cubes equals more power, regardless of which engine design one goes with. But then again, Chevy had absolutely no problem with making almost two horsepower per cubic inch with it's naturally aspirated 302, once upon a time.

Do you mean the 290bhp 302 made in 67-69? Even the race cars didn't make the 600 horse power you are claiming. Chevy rated them at 450bhp. And keep in mind hp ratings in the 60's were SAE GROSS, not SAE NET as they are now.

    Reading is Fundamental:

    http://www.holisticpage.com/camaro/camaros/302.htm

As for the Cobra using a blower to make power, Coletti was right. They probably couldn't make more than the 390bhp the blown 4.6l makes with a 5.4l (the only larger motor that was realistically an option). Chevy didn't do it with the LS1 either despite it being 5.7l, they went with the hotter LS6 or larger LS2 for 400+bhp.

An engine is just an air pump. It pumps in air/fuel mixture and burns it. Assuming the same efficiency for extracting energy from the air/fuel mix, the more of it the engine pumps, the more power it makes.

    You can increase power by:

Making the engine larger. Each cylinder now pulls in more air/fuel and therefore extracts more power.

Make it rev higher. If you use an engine of 1l and an engine of 2l, rev the smaller engine twice as fast as the bigger one and it should make the same power. Assuming all supporting components can keep up with the air flow velocity required.

Boost it. You can force twice as much air/fuel into the motor by double the intake pressure with forced induction.

He went with boost, as the Ford guys that have supercharged Mustangs are glad he did. It's a lot easier to bump up boost then make your engine bigger, or make it all stay in one piece by trying to rev it twice as high.

Umm, no John, I was not referring to the Cross-Ram 302's that were being sold from the factory. As far it's "race car" version not making the "600 horsepower that I'm claiming", why not re-inspect my statement. I stated almost two horsepower per cubic inch, not two horsepower per cubic inch. If you'd kindly remove you're head from you're rear, you'd realize that there's a significant difference.

Underrated. By the way, that's still 1.5 horsepower per cubic inch. You're arguement is plastic...

Hmm, would this anology also apply to the 1970 454 Chevelle... being completely underrated by chevy at a mere 450 horsepower, but clearly making over 500?

The rest of you're pathetic arguement is just smoke and mirrors on you're part. Thanks, it's been fun though. Really, it has....

That is one more reason that I hate Mustang guys. That guy probably doesn't even own a Mustang. he probably has an escort and is just so jealous for some reason that he doesn't have an LS1 car or even a Mustang for that matter. Back up your mouth and we might believe you just a little. Till then don't talk shit. I'm not that far away to drive up there and bust your ass.
