What comp ratio and internals are you running on you 527whp mach 1? The engine you have listed has a 8.5 comp ratio, why because its built for FI. No you do not need to lower the comp ratio to go FI but if you wanna make real power say 550-1000whp high comp is BAD idea. And with ls1 cars you have to ask yourself the question of why go with a 450whp FI car when you can make the same on a top end swap ls1 and have less headaches. With a 4 valve 4.6 it kinda makes sense since you can't make 460whp straight N.A. Eitherway most of us agree that when yo ugo FI, go all out and build it for FI so you can make some real power.

Does it really matter, the mach 1 and cobras were all ford factory cars. They count in this comparison. The have the closest weight and power to the ls1 cars closer than almost any other RWD v8 platform. Mach 1 stock for stock is a damn good race if both drivers are going for it.

Uh.....You may note that in your original post that I was responding to you specifically mentioned Mustangs that were "above a GT", as you put it. Fair or not (using your metric). Let me quote it for you...

Ring a bell? Or are you continually changing your statement so that you don't have to admit that you simply didn't know what you were talking about?

BTW....Cobras, GT500s, Mach 1, etc are all put together at by Ford, on the same line that makes regular ole every day GTs and V6s. They are not aftermarket.

1996 and 1997, under contract to GM. From 98-02, they were done in-house at GM.

Agreed. I'm getting close, but it is much more involved (and expensive) than normal bolt-ons and a cam swap [ala the LS1].

Actually 98-02 they were sent to SLP in Canada to become SS's then shipped back to GM for distribution to the dealers. Refer to long winded post:

How do i find out if i have a SLP induction???

There are some idiots in that thread, and I sure wouldn't use it as evidence to back up your assertion. Here's a different source for you:

In 1998, the SS order code changed to WU8, an "in house" option. In 1996-1997, Z28s were built at Ste. Therese and converted to SS by SLP Engineering. Beginning in 1998, SS's were built at Ste. Therese and shipped to SLP in nearby LaSalle with a temporary hood. SLP added the new hood, spoiler and any SLP exclusive content. SS included a 320-hp LSI, composite hood with air induction, P275/40ZR17 tires, 17x9" specific wheels, 3" stainless exhaust tip, special suspension, and SS trim.

In this instance, I guess a case could be made for whatever position one wished to take.

I was looking into the cobra's and C5Z06 Vettes. I was finding plenty of cobra's from used car dealers for about 23-28k and Z06's for about the same. You would get the occasional 18.5-21k deals out there but for the most part they ran about the same and this was a couple of years ago atleast. For me i would pick a C5Z06 over the Termi anyday for several reasons. In the end its all preference and i have respect for any car thats fast. If you have deep enough pockets you can make many cars go fast, you just look at what you can afford and buy something that will give you the most for your money.

Stick the difference in your ls1 and you will eat the cobra alive. And you get to decide where you want to eat it. On the drag. On the track. Or on the street. And you have a much nicer looking, better handling car. Oh, did i say nicer looking? Yeah thats how it is.

    Very nice mach I.

I figure $6K for a Procharger kit for my SS plus $4k for a good rear. So for $10K over what I paid for it I can keep up with a Cobra and then some. It'll be a while before I have $10K to throw around though.

Also, I think the Fbody is a nicer all around car. Sorry, just my opinion.
