Also I apologize for the sarcasm but I provided all the data that I could... Yes it is only a small percentage and all cars are different but my point was I couldnt get them all so I got what I could find.

You gotta love the Ford vs. Chevy rivalry. God Bless America.

And on a lighter side, UPS is finally going to ship my new carpet tomorow. Seat covers should be here in a few days.

The intake manifold isn't part of the long block.

"Long-Block" is an engine-building/manufacturers term that refers to an assembled engine including:

    Crankshaft
    All bearings
    Engine block
    Head gaskets
    Pistons & Rings
    Connecting rods
    Cylinder heads
    Camshaft(s)
    Timing components
    Complete Valvetrain
(Valves, Springs, retainers, rocker arms, seals, etc.)

Long-blocks typically (but not always) also include:

    Oil Pan
    Oil Pump
    Valve covers
    Timing Cover

    Long-blocks rarely include:

    Water Pump
    Intake Manifolds
    Exhaust manifolds
    Ingnition components
    Flywheel or pressure plate
Front Dress (Including drive pullies, accessories, etc)

Note also that his dyno runs use STD (Standard) correction. SAE is somewhat more common, and would read ~3% less than STD.

In the end it is just a number, and a rather useless one at that. Much more useful is what you learn on the dyno in back-to-back runs & tuning.

this is not ness. true, it is dependent on many variables. I have only bolt ons and my car makes 316 hp and 340 ftlbs, and i dont have the ported intake. 335 hp can be done on a stock mach 1 long block.

I'm afraid it is true - all the time - and it has nothing to do what mods are on the car, nor was I trying to imply that this, that, or the other was or was not possible (I have no problem at all believing Angus).

Here's a basic overview of STD & SAE correction factors...

STD correction corrects to a standard atmosphere at sea level, meaning 59F, 0% humidity, 29.92 in/hg.

SAE is the Society for Automotive Engineers Standard, and corrects to a more common 77F, 0% humidity, and 29.23 in/hg.

Because SAE is correcting for a warmer temperature and lower air pressure, for any given run, SAE will always read lower than STD.

    Good point.

I personally use the STD correction factor because my earliest Dyno runs of both my '01 Cobra & then my Mach were provided to me in printed form (no digital data) only and used the STD correction.

Since my most significant & applicable use for the dyno results is to compare my rwhp/rwtq on one day (or one dyno run) to others of my car, I still use the STD numbers.

I starting obtaining all of my dyno data in digital form a couple of years ago from my tuner, so I can now not only compare old/new dyno runs but also correct for SAE, STD, etc.

I also agree that dyno data is "just a number", which is why I don't put it in my signature or post about it much.

1/4-mile performance is my personal measuring-stick...

This is great stuff guys, a very good thread.

Ill chime in and say, "I dont think those darn Mustang boys are ever gonna learn, I guess you are just gonna have to keep fighting the good fight and hope it all works out in the end."

It is funny though that this thread reprsents a standing argument that has been going on for years and years. FORD Vs. CHEVY

I wonder how many times this subject has been debated in the 60's 70's 80's 90's and now. Makes ya think.

Ill bet our fathers (grandfathers maybe) had simmilar conversations about the cars of the past.

That's big talk from someone who's only "between 340 350hp" (at the crank).

Dillard, You should post some pics of that Dark Blue Z28. That is probably my Favorite color on a Camaro.

What are you trying to prove?? There's no need to talk down Mustangs, they are as American as the F-Body, sound just as good (if not better) and still have a ton of potential. Its not like its some sort of Nippon riceburner, give credit where credit is due. Personally I think the Mach 1 ans Cobra are damn nice cars, easily on par with the F-body.
