Don't even worry about it dude, unless he's got some serious mods, you'll rip him no problem. The 2.5 Jetta's are dogs, here's the stats per Car & Driver:
0-60: 9.2 seconds
1/4 Mile: 16.8 @ 85MPH
Those numbers are with the 6 speed auto, manual might be slightly quicker.

The manual is slower. The Auto is a DSG unit that actually improves acceleration times. the 2.5 is VERY slow. You could take one starting in 3rd. Seriously.

my truck is a 88 dodge ram that weighs 4400 lbs the 318 jump time so i figured the best was to fix it was to put a 440 big block in it, good idea?
anyway i still want to put high compression pistons in it cause mine are only 8.8 ;1 ratio im sure with 9.5 to 1 will put it in the deep 14's i like racing hemi dodge's, as long as they are a short bed and not lifter they are ALMOST side by side i always seem to win by half a car, i mean truck
my girlfriends dads hemi runs 15.3
my truck is lifted with 4 inches but only has 31X12.50 mud terrans on it ,
love racin for money so far have made 200 against three hemi trucks one of those guys wants to rematch me when he gets headers for 200 bucks , maybe i will put some 3.90 gears in my truck opposed to those highway 3.21 gears , that would probably drop it it the 14's

hemi guys are full of themselves, the best is when they get on the dyno and realize how much power they are NOT making to the wheels.
p.s. put nitrous on your truck, then betLast edited by hutch1999; 12-28-2006 at 10:48 AM.

well usually they are kinda pissed at me cause they didn't know it was a 440 they usually think it is a 360 but hey i always ask them what they have done to there trucks or cars and they tell me, and the guys with the hemis they dont even ask my one question and they act like my truck is a piece of shit .........
well how do those tail lights look
another thing about my truck is that it only weighs 4600 with me in it ,, correct me if i am wrong but i think even a short bed standard cab hemi is about 5000 lbs....... not good

Whats all this bad talk about Hemi owners, i have a 06 Dodge ram and im not over confident. I know what can beat me and what can not. I know this guy that has a WS-6 Trans am that whoop the $#!T out of me. I knew he was going to beat me but i raced for fun. I am have a LS1 pretty soon. Remember not all Hemi owners are full of themselves.

I think that the a lot of 5.7 hemi owners are over confident in what they have and think that it is so much "better" than the LS1, im not saying all hemi owners are like that, but i just get sick of them some times. I have sort of hated hemis since this kid at my school got a brand new charger RT and everyone thought it was the king shit. One night he got called out to race me and pussed out on me makin excuses so i never got the chance to beat his as* in front of everyone now he WONT race me. No offense to anyone who has a hemi.

silverz28camaro,
I will spill that I've got an '06 Jetta, but mine is a 2.0Turbo/pkg 3. My wife HAD to get a gas efficient/ automatic/ sedan for the kiddo, but my prerequisite was that it had to be able to get up.
We got it Nov. 05 when they first came on show room. Gotta say that it is fun to drive and being a 4 cyl., that Turbo really lays it down. I was extremely surprised on test drive, expecting a honda civic-like drive.
Now, for the 2.5- it's a squirter- unless he's modded it, and there's not much out there yet (that I've seen) for these cars. Now, the only visual cue as to the engine is the badge on the rear. There is no side badges or other distinguishable marks between the 2.5 and Turbo other than that rear. But the difference in how they drive is remarkable. Being cynical here, but if he has the Turbo, and swapped the badges, he could be slingin game.

I seriously doubt anyone would be that pathetic to go through the trouble to switch badges to make it appear to be the lesser motor - but you're right, the 2.0T definitely has more power and is a much better motor than the useless 2.5L engine.
Not sure what a 5 (or is it 6?) speed Jetta with the 2.0T would run, but the 6 speed GTI's run mid-high 14's with the 2.0T paired to the 6 speed.
