thank you vin diesel
i just recently purchased a 1998 trans am ws9 stock and this extremely cocky friend [acquaintance is a better word] convinced his family to buy him an evo 8 [also stock] and he pulled the stupid crap "lets race for pinks" no i dont plan on participating in this race because i dont feel the risk is worth it. im not completely sure because im still somewhat new to the trans am world so i ask, would i beat him in a quarter mile? ...... we're both stock and my transmission is automatic

Yes, even w/ an A4 trans you'd def have him. I have raced many, and once they are modded then they're decent competition for you. I love it when they have no clue about your car, at least you're researching theirs 1st...

dont do it, even though you would win, what if your driveshaft broke, or ignition coil suddenly went bad?, unless you are filthy rich dont do it,
i would bet $300 on it though, plus if mommy and daddy bought it for him do you really think you would get that car. i wouldnt want it anyway, well mayby if i sold it
my buddy thinks if he buys a subaru imprezza he will beat my camaro (12.9) he is also on drugs

I love racing to PINKS on hollywood. Sure the line is long but they have great hotdogs.

Its not worth racing for pinks, because like the other guys said, anything can happen. Not to mention I'm sure he would pussy out and not give you the car if you won.
I'm sure you would take him though, all you would have to do is powerbrake your car, launch it hard, floor the gas and keep 'er lit

Well...............if your A4 has a 2.73 rear gear, I think the race would be close. The best I ran with my '98 A4 2.73 was a 13.65 @ 102.8. Usually I was straining to get in the 14s, and that was with a Ram Air hood, airbox, lid and I shifted myself at 6150 RPM. Letting the car shift itself I would almost never see 13s. Now if you have 3.23 gears, you are quicker than what I did. Search this forum for decoding your door option sticker, that will tell you what RPO to look for to see your gear ratio. Oh yeah, almost all 2.73 rear gear cars have an iron driveshaft, I think the 3.23 and 6-speed cars have the aluminum driveshaft. That is a quick check. When you powerbrake to launch, don't just spin your tires, that is impressive but not quick, especially against an AWD car.

dude just flip on your "NAWS" lol....gotta fucking love the fast and the furious movies haha. according to them when you use NITROUS (nos is just a brand name) time like speeds up and the lights all zoom by like you're flying through space on the starship enterprise, retarded.

dude seriously c'mon who the hell races for pinks, especially when his car is worth like twice as much as yours.
what a shame, take that evo 8 and give it to me so I can love it and care for it like my other evo 8 =p

hahaha!! yea i wouldnt do the pinks thing either, to much at stake. what if your tire blew out or something. you should win but he'll proly pull you out of the hole cuz of AWD and since your still new to these cars. if you go from a roll you definately win all the way through. good luck and post results if ya'll run

yea it was very awkward... his dad said he wanted to race for pinks but i told the son id race him for like 100 and i will post results when i do. not even kidding a little bit here, the kid spends most of his time sitting in his house just watching his evo [most likely with his hands down his pants]

This "acquaintance" sounds like a real douche. Take his pink slip then sell it to someone can buy it themselves without their parents buying it for them.

Race him for pinks, I bet you can do 13.5 1/4 times. evos run like 14.9 on a good day down hill....

I think a race against a stock 98 ws6 auto and an evo would be a very good race. Stock automatic ws-6s are dogs out off the line, if the other guy takes his car to 5k and dumps that clutch he could put 2-3 cars on you before 2nd. I'd like to watch that race.
I raced a near stock 3000gt vr4 with my 02 firehawk 6 speed. That was somewhat close.
