    The only thing stock evo's have for them is the holeshot.

    Throw a stall and some 3.73's on your car in the next month and go knock on his door and ask for that race

    Search this forum for decoding your door option sticker, that will tell you what RPO to look for to see your gear ratio. Oh yeah, almost all 2.73 rear gear cars have an iron driveshaft, I think the 3.23 and 6-speed cars have the aluminum driveshaft
    it's on your rpo sticker on the driverside door check for one of this
    GU2 = 2.73 and GU5 = 3.23

    Where have you been, under a rock? Any decently driven EVO is in the 13s stock. They have to launch off the rev limiter to do it though. This makes the stock clutch fail very quickly if repeated too often. If the guy sneaks a tune and manual boost controller in there, he could be low 13s. A non-evo savvy person would never know if he had these mods. We have a whole slew of these things on the local scene that come to the track and I've been there in person to witness. The only one I've ever seen run over 14, was the kid who didn't want to ruin his clutch launching and shifting too hard and yes he was high 14s.

    If you race him for pinks it will be pretty tough to collect. race him for money, that way when you win he can pay you.

    Agreed. Thats pretty much what I was going to say. Without launching the car from the redline and frying the clutch, they only run high 13's/low 14's.

    I'd rather not destroy my car to make it run respectable times, hell I eased off the line at 2K and still pulled 13.4 @ 106.4

    Your suppose to launch at 5500rpm, not the rev limit (which is 7000-7500). You can still run 13s doing a mediocre launch. 14s are if you bog completely. I did a slight take off at around 3000 and eased into it and ran 12.4

    That's what I was thinking. This thread was about a stock EVO, so I just wanted to clear that up. Man, I gotta get me one of these things!

    It has been my experience that people who really don't want to race will ask to run for pink slips.

    Usually if you call their bluff they will back off. Run for money, like 300 or so is a good wager. That way you won't have to kill anybody after the race.
