They key word in my statement is WHIP. Whenever I hear WHIP I usually think of a bad beating giving out by someone. Not just a couple of car lengths. Just read things before making statements. You used beat, I used WHIP. And I do agree with you that the stock ls1 have an advantage over the GT.

i did.. in that case.... "equal drivers" should have never been used.. cause if your gonna WHIP someone, even with a SHITTY driver in one and the driver of all drivers, it still shouldnt be much of a race..

    Omg --

I haven't read such BS on both sides since--- well, I guess since the last Mustang GT thread. LOL
    GT500 slow??? WTF??
GT vs LS1 drivers race? WTF??

according to my time slips I am not that great of a driver (13.66 @ 104)- But I have yet to lose to any stock GT

So you can be just an "okay" driver and still beat a GT fairly easy.

i think the stock trans am has an edge when its stock against a stock GT. With the bolt ons the T/A shouldn't have a problem with a GT at all, providing that the driver of the T/A is a decent driver.

Go for it, this race is yours.

I'm no expert, but from MY "experience" I have never seen a stock (or stock with at least exhaust) 2005+ Stang run better than a 13.6...Most of these guys are running in the low 14's though, but again that is just what I've seen from maybe 10-15 times at Cecil county Dragway.

When I ran my car 2 weeks ago there was a 2008 GT running high 11's though! Shit, I ran better than a friggen C6 vette!!! The guy couldn't get that thing below 13.4's, doesn't mean I can beat them all!

we all know that the LS1s were very underrated-- It puts out about 350 hp to the motor.

And the new stang is 300 to the motor (at best)

that is 50 hp-- take off about equal for drivetrain loss and I still see a 40 - 50 Hp difference.

I don't deny the new Mustang GT is the quickest stock STANG GT.. But to say it is close (equal drivers)-- don't make much sense.

Show me one driver (pro or not) that ran a 12.8 in a stock 4.6 NA modular motor from a Mustang GT.

Because that time (12.8) has been recorded by a Mustang Magazine for a LS1 equipped Fbody.

Both are pretty similar in performance, with the overall advantage going to the S197. Most M5 '05-'08 GT's put down around 260-270rwhp, where as 96-97 Cobra's average between 245-250. '98 Cobra's usually net a bit more, around 250-260rwhp due to a more aggressive PCM calab.

my friends bone stock 96 Cobra put down 257 rwhp. The new GT's dyno about 10 rwhp more. Really, with the weight difference, they are equal i would say.
