Something everyone who street races should watch
Warning: According to Mogs01GT there is some porn on the site that this vid is located at. He says it's good stuff too, but is potentially not work safe. The vid itself is safe for viewing, however.

I'm not against street racing, but I am against stupid people. Lord knows I've done some stupid things in my time. Hopefully, you don't have to. Take your races away from the general public, please.Last edited by Chris Arnold; 12-29-2008 at 11:12 PM.

Wow nothing to do with street racing. A lot to do with not paying attention and driving to fast for certain road conditions and just plain being a dumbass.
Weve had three people get hit on the side of our roads in this county in the past month, last night this old guy dressed in a black carhartt jacket walked out in front of my dad. Speeding or not. a lot has to do with ignorance. Watch your ass and dont trust other drivers etc.

My grand pop was killed by a hit and run driver years ago, and it is somehting to think about when we're sreaming along at 80 mph, but as someone said above and i agree whole heartedly there's alot of stupid people. ignorance is bliss. If you enjoy walking along dark road sides at night atleast where reflective clothing or cary a light! Better yet walk as far off the road way as possible/. I work on highways every day, trust me when i say it's more dangerous than you could ever imagine, give the road workers some respect, not asking everyone to drive 40 on a highway but atleast vere away from us rather than towards!... Man i got off topic!!!!!

i'm not an advocate of street racing but it's like joshiedoom said, it's poor driving and inattentiveness. alot of people don't realize it but street racing only accounts for 2,000 deaths per year. more people die falling down stairs each year...dead serious.

Right... ok, I understand your points about street racing but how many videos have you seen where two cars are going at it and then they pass another vehicle at what seems to be a 50+ mph difference. I mean they are passing these cars on a highway like they are standing still. And suppose that the driver of the other vehicle isn't paying attention to a race happening behind them.
The point is that by racing around other traffic, you are not only risking your own car and life, but you are also carelessly risking the lives of others. These are the people that I'm targeting. You need look no further than threads in this forum to find videos of people who street race around other traffic. It isn't necessary, and it does result in getting people killed.

That was sad. But like everyone else said had nothing to do with street racing. Just people not paying attention.

come on man, no need to be a dick about it. again i'm not saying that i condone it, but people make it out to be much much bigger than it actually is. almost 45,000 Americans die each year in car accidents. all i was saying was that people not paying attention or driving too aggressively causes an absurd amount of accidents in comparison.

Watched the first minute of the video and didn't see anything about street racing in it. I think who ever made that video is getting the definition twisted a bit.

I remember reading an article that said that street racing accounts for 1-2% of automobile related deaths. 1-2%!!!!!!! It's still considered a big enough problem that law enforcement continues to spend too much money cracking down on street racing. I think that money should be spent elsewhere such as keeping drunk drivers off the road, which account for 60-70% of the deaths.
Also, that video had nothing to due with street racing. Nothing! Just dumbasses who can't drive.
And... I will go a step further and tell you that yes.... I STREET RACE! However, it's not what you think. I'm not weaving in and out of cars and whatnot. When I go street racing we plan up a couple of races, find a nice long unpopulated road with zero traffic, where we can actually stage the cars, and we street race there. If anything goes wrong we are only endangering ourselves. The track is 2 hours away from where I live, and is only open Thursday, which doesn't always fit my work schedule, and to be honest I'm not driving 2 hours, possibly have something go wrong and break at the track and have to get the car towed all they way back home. The track is usually an all day thing, to just get ready to run 2-3 times. No thanks!
I think street racing is fine, if you aren't and idiot, can control your car, and do it in unpopulated roads with zero traffic. I always have a blast when I go out. I think most people, like the poster think that street racing all entails Fast & Furious racing through traffic and endangering lives. This is not street racing - that is being stupid.
I can rant all day about this, and I'll probably get flack for it, but I will continue to street race and I will continue not to endanger peoples lives. It's a win/win for me.

The latter part of the video seems to take a swipe at street racing/driving fast in general.
After watching all that it really puts me in a reflective mood. There are a lot of dumb drivers, and you have to watch out for the young guys who can't make intelligent decisions concerning when is a good time and when it isn't a good time to street race.
That video was choreographed better than most horror flicks. Very to the point.
Thanks for sharing. I'm in a real bad mood this holiday, and that made me reflect on the good points of life, actually (I guess the fact that such things have never happened to me or a close family member).

Guys - and especially JoshieDoom... Please give me some credit. I'm not an idiot... I know that the video is not solely directed at street racers. I am however asking all of you to view it because the video is about making poor decisions or not giving a potentially dangerous situation enough attention or care. Obviously all of you are capable of drawing the correlation between that and the act of street racing.
I'll say it again because it bears repeating: vids and stories posted in this forum and many others often discuss making bad decisions like racing through traffic, or in unsafe locations. I'm not against street-racing altogether. I even street race. I'm just against making immature, careless, or just bad decisions. It can be done safely, and it can be done in a way that eliminates the risk to others.
The point of the thread is that if you're going to street race, please reflect on this video and do not put yourself in a situation that will possibly compromise the safety of an innocent.Last edited by Chris Arnold; 12-25-2008 at 07:45 PM.
