Another thing that is gonna make a huge difference on a highway run like that is Aerodynamics. The new Z is made to go 200 mph, it has better aerodynamics obviously. I know you guys weren't goin near that, but if it can handle 200 mph, than I'm sure it cuts through at 90-120mph much better than the F-Body.

It'll get stale winning all the time Luos. Someone needs to keep you honest from time to time. Then when they have had their moment, cut them back down to size!

+1, Fbody and Z06 are very similar in shape, but the vettes are usually lower about 1.5 inches, then the flip head lights on TA vs C6, then weather stripping.. it add to a bit of air resistance when going 120+. but it is not a huge difference, the weight difference is big 300lbs and Lous had 500lbs extra like he mention in his note above. I lowered my car 1.75'' and I gained stability mostly.. but perhaps 2-3rwhp at best...

    I agree with that 100%.

I was happy to see one of the new Z06's driven to its potential. I got a ride in it, quite the car. And he can hit those shifts nicely.
    Badass cars.

The guys name is "Ranger" and remember he has hundreds of runs with Corvettes, and a good number of them on the C6 ZO6 alone, He hit a 10.8 once with DRs. and a 11.2 once with street tires. Mostly, Im sure, he got much higher numbers.

On average a C6 ZO6 will run a 11.7 with a good driver and street tires. And an 11.4 with DRs. An average driver with street tires will have trouble getting much lower than a 11.9 or so. with most runs being 12's, Unless of course they practrice all the time and have thousands of runs.

Not taking anything away from "Ranger" he is awesome at what he does. Of course one will become good at anything with practice, and alot of it.

I think that Mr Luos lost due to weight differance and thats all. Change the wheels and lose the camera man, then I'll bet it would be a drivers race, up to 140 mph or so, then the aerodynamics of the vette would become a big factor. But were talking a quarter mile race times.

Wait till the end of the video, when they actaully race. Its worth it.

Watch this video, and see a new ZO6 go down to a TA. It will make you feel better. And this site has alot of other cool videos, as well.

I think my favorite thing about the realm our cars is in is this: When we are beat in a race like this, there's no shame, because it's a damn fast car to keep up, much less to walk away from us. Congrats on a good run, now be motivated!

    Exactly.

I enjoyed that race a bunch. I had no problem loosing to that car.
But I would like to do it again on a 1/4 mile track.
Just to see, I think I could make it MUCH closer.

I think it is an aftermarket aluminum intake, it is supposed to be stronger than the plastic peice that comes stock, horsepower is supposed to go up 25 vs the plastic intake on the 98-00 models, not sure about the comparison vs the 01/02 models with LS6 intakes. I saw it on summit racing.com
