One exception? There have been countless FWD cars running sub ten second times here at the track for the last few years, I can provide plenty of video if so desired. Although I would agree that the majority of FWD cars aren't designed to launch that hard from the factory, it is definitely wrong to assume that having a FWD car is a disadvantage out on the city streets and highways when it's been proven otherwise, repeatedly. Here's an older 80's FWD inspired GLHS taking on a much newer RWD LS1 Camaro, , I honestly don't see any problem launching either car....

Until you yourself can outrun said Plymouth Reliant, I wouldn't be so quick to label it as such. You stated that "FWD=no traction", you didn't say "some" of them, you implied all of them. Well, that video I provided seemed to prove otherwise, and that's why it was posted, shitty or not....

I always thought FWD was easier to launch and get traction with all the weight sitting down on it. Of course I've never tried to take off in a 300+HP FWD car.

all that weight transfers back when accelerating.

Match a two cars with the exact horsepower, tires, and weight, one being FWD and one being RWD. The RWD car will launch better off the line.

Oh and about your Reliant. Anyone with money can make anything fast.
Money makes all the difference in the world.

I know what your saying bro, believe me, and I honestly prefer RWD myself. I had my ass handed to me by a similar car to that of that Reliant last year, and it placed an entirely new perspective on things. I've seen plenty of FWD cars running the numbers at the track for years, but when I got beat, it was on the street, and it's something I'll never forget....

As for the Z06, it's been for sale for the last two months. If you or anyone else reading this knows someone with a LOW mileage '92 Blue SLP Firehawk, I'd accept a trade w/cash. One of my neighbor's wants the vette, but I'm stalling, as well as hesitate to sell it to him....

watch out if he has a lot of stickers on his car that might give him xtra hp and the advantage.

Ran one on the highway with him getting the start he was about 2 1/2 cars out when I hit it and walked him hard to 120.

You'll have no problem. And on street tires weight loss can sometimes be harmful. A few buddies who removed weight had to add it in the rear again to get their cars to hook.

you are wrong sorry buddy. how could a fwd car not have a disadvantage on the streets or highways. weight moves to the back when you take off which would promote wheel hop and spin, it is how it works. i know there is vert fast fwd cars out there but saying there is proven no disadvantage is just ignorant. And i said not to many so when i see a lot of fwd cars that leave hard i will change my opinion but the vast majority of the ones i see on the street or track do not leave hard, and by saying one i did not mean the only one just one of not too many.

We sort of had time to race the other nite, we started our race but I got a really really really bad start and almost stalled the car, so I had to chase him down, I couldnt really tell if I was gaining on him or we stayed the same distance due to the fact that we ended the race pretty early, I was almost in 3rd gear, we lined up for the 2nd race when cops we saw cops (lights) in a distance so we all just left, (luckily this place had lots of exits and the cops still had to go over a bridge) I also found out he might of had his A/C removed, does that change anything or do you guys still think I can take him?

My friend said the same thing to me when I had my LT1. he had a 02 si and full exhaust. mine was stock with just cat back and gutted cats. I kicked his ass. ricers always think if they change their exhaust they will free up some ridiculous HP numbers.

Yea I wouldnt be worried about an 02 Si with just exhuast, this is an 06 (stock they can almost hit 14s) but its also fully gutted out, 6 speed, and a/c removed with "full exhuast" intake and header. If he gained a full second out of al that it might be at LT1 level.

"there is proven no disadvantage" lol? Now that's an ignorant statement....

Yeah well, I know your trying your hardest to prove your elusive point. But I posted decent video to back up what I said, and if you re-inspect my post, as well as comprehend what was written, you'd see things from a not so superficial stance. Assuming that I somehow implied the advantage going to FWD is ludicrous. Next time, don't try so hard in disguising ignorant remarks as some coherent point....

You shoud take him no problem.

Those Si's run around a 15.2 stock. With bolt ons he should be in the mid 14's. Being gutted, low 14's at best.

Your car does high 13's stock, plus you have RWD, so you can kill him off the line.

Next time race him from a 20mph roll on three honks. That way no one can say they got a bad start.

Come back and tell us what happens.

You should win, but I've heard of one new SI that beat a Cobalt SS, so it should be a fun race if your LT1 is completely stock.
