They are far superior on an unprepared surface and on street tires, but the vast majority of awd cars you see at the track aren't running any faster than a 1.7 60's and that is easily achievable in lightly modded fbody.

Actually, no. Around here I see a lot of older people driving them. By older I mean 40+ years old.

I've seen the opposite as well.....I think that's why I can't find one to race me....simply haven't ran into that cocky 17 year old driving one that wants to put it to the test!

Agreed. I saw one on the way home today going the other direction, driver looked about 60.

You think by that age they'd have better taste in cars lol. Like a Vette or something. If I was any older than about 35 I'd feel embarassed driving a "tuner" car like an Evo or STI. It just looks like a boy racer vehicle.

I messed with one on the highway a few weeks ago, driven by a kid who looked to be in his early 20's, with a kid about the same age in the passenger seat.

I got up next to him, he backed off, and then I saw him nail it. Soon as he hit it I dropped to 4th and opened her up, instant 2 car lengths, then he let off and got off the next exit

STI's are still pretty pricey for the young ones to get. I usually only see the younger people in the WRX and older people in STI's.

I live in wisconsin too man and all i see on the way home from work is evos and STIs with mid 20s drivers. The way home from work is 40minutes of freeway, so me with an ls1 I have quite a bit of fun. Plus all of them think cause they have a turbo they can take me top end then i blow them away. I had a kid ask me what i had doen after i stomped his WRX non STI and i said headers and exhaust he said no way you took me top end with a v8 unless your spraying, i laughed and rolled up my window.

Just an observation, the 04-05 STI's dont seem to compare to the 06+ ones. I say that because Ive seen 05's with a TBE run 13's, the 06+ with catless TBE running 12.8

Don't know why its the same engine supposedly.

Well the catless exhaust would be faster with a turbo car not to mention drivers.
