Sorry I should have clarified. I was referring to crank ratings. I'll have to dig up the dyno sheet from a engine building mag where the cranked out 493 from a stock crate 5.7 Hemi. That was camshaft only, no heads.

he didn't say Rwhp he said hp. a str-8 w/ a cam could make 500 at the motor. it makes a claimed 425hp stock.

i've ran a stock r/t. it was not even close i had 1 1/2 as i shifted into third and shut down. and i let him roll first.

Not representative of what is on the street but it does show the potential.

Damn, 500 HP with just a cam and headers. Now thats turnin' and burnin'. How come I never hear "raced a cammed Hemi"?

I was thinking it had more mod potential than our beloved LS1, but then I realized they didn't have all the accessories or the rest of the exhaust on the engine dyno. Hell, if my engine was on there with no accessories and no catback, it would prolly throw down well over 500 horses.

Either way, that HEMI engine is just as impressive as our LS1 as far as mod potential.

i was in my buddies SS one nite and a srt8 wanted to play with us. we didnt have room. we were like little kids in a candy store when this guy pulled up on us. at the very least, he had an exhaust and im thinking full exhaust because he was loud.
he would of lost anyways, the SS is making 380+ to the rear.
