that is very true.. failed to think about your car being built for spray, actually use it and watch him go

I'm surprised he came around you at all (at anything short of really stupid speeds). By my way of thinking, a built-motor LS1 with a properly-setup A4 should have absolutely murdered a lightly modded Terminator.

    Stuff happens though.

Hmmm...funny I was thinking the same thing. That's why I read the story several times thinking I was missing something.

thats what i was thinking as well, but if he has his motor set up to run on spray, maybe it doesnt like racing off spray

the car runs okay on motor but yeah it does hurt it,with a n/a stall and cam i wouild gain alot in et and mph on motor, its almost like being geared to big to run the quarter mile,

but the fact that you are missing is that his car easily makes 60 or more hp at the wheels more than mine and its boost which we all know is a different demon then motor power

and he didnt really come flying by it was a gradual process but he did catch me

so say a boosted ls1 vs a n/a ls1 say both at 500 to the wheels, the boosted one is gonna be faster? at least you would get more props cuz your all motor lol

if all things equal i would bet 9 times out of 10

your power and torque curves are way better with boost or nitrous
on a n/a motor you will build peak horsepower at a certain rpm range of course, now add boost or nitrous and you have an extra amount of hp at all rpm ranges being sprayed or blown

to answer the question yes 300 on motor and 200 on n20 will usually beat a 500 n/a car

its the same concept with an 1800 hp mustang that gets blown away by 900hp car at our local 1/8th mile by time his power gets there it is too late the 900 hp nitrous car is already out front and sometimes you dont have time to run people down

All this talk makes me anxious to race my buddy at work. He's got an 02 GT 2valve, m5, with exhaust, 3.73's, vortech @9psi, and meth and says he put down 432hp/387tq. Haven't seen sheet yet, but thats a lot more than I had expected him to put down! I just finished my motor, cam specs are in sig, but the grind has proven to make around 420hp/395-400tq with stock heads and a stalled (4000rpm) auto. I can't wait!!!

so this dont turn into a war here is my basis
    500hp and 500tq n/a
300hp and 300tq n/a plus a 200 shot is easily gonna pull about 600ft.lbs of tq.
which will gain you an advantage

if all numbers are equal it is anybodies race but not to many people build motors like that

if an n/a motor is built right it will make amazing TQ throughout the RPM range and also make more TQ than hp right?

N/A is the way to go for a road racer or auto-x. No one would convince me otherwise.

But I agree, a 200 shot on a 300hp motor might be a better choice when it comes to drag racing.

I am talking overall, not just an ET at a drag strip.

Well that makes even less sense. If he is making that much more power, torque mind you, the ls1 car shouldnt have hole-shot'd. Unless you have a fucking sweet suspension setup?

I mean that cobra still produces a hell of a lot more low end power than your car. Hell LT1 cars at the same power levels hole-shot ls1's.
