me vs. boxster

i ran into a porshe boxster running down I 40 the other night in some fairly heavy traffic...

when i pulled up next to him i noticed a younger girl in the passenger seat so even though it was dark enough i couldnt see him i figured he too was young or atleast willing to try to impress his lil woman...

i was right... i pulled up next to him wrapped the throttle i heard his rev to about 6 grand... i hit 4th and pulled away from him (he wasnt trying too hard...)

so i let off and start to fade back and apparently he is slowing down too cause i get down to about 55 and he is like 3 car lengths behind me... i see his headlights raise and i see him starting to pull up hard so i clutch it and slide into 3rd... i wait till about the time his front tire is at my rear to engage the clutch and hammer down... by the time my front is at his rear ive started to pull him and by the time i hit had to shift to forth im about half a lenth infront of him and shutting down for traffic...

after that he didnt try again so i just faded back waved a fond good bye and hammered down... my bud in his cobra tried to get him to play after i turned at my exit, but he said he wouldnt take the bait...

i dont know if the guy just wasnt trying to hard or if these cars are really that slow... maybe i just put too much faith in the porshe name... all i know is he had a good run on me and i pulled him hard...

if its just a basic boxster and not an S yes they really are that slow......0 to 60 in just over 6 sec..quartermile a lil over 14........boxster is runs low 5s to 60 and mid to low 13s quarter......i had one race me in my old z as well.....dooored him then he proceded to tell me his old ladys merc would beat me when we stopped at the next light..lol

There are tons of Boxsters around Knoxville, usually there the only things I can get to race and every time we do I bust their ass by buslengths. Tried a 911 TT once and decided to stick with the Boxsters and Carrera's. Got my ass handed to me!

sorry guys.... I don't consider the Boxter a real Porsche! I have a customer that kept telling me he could beat me in his Boxter S. Last time I went out to see him I took the "SS". He drove his truck to work that day, so when we went to lunch I drove. We got out on the highway and I got on it hard until we hit about 120. He simply said, "you are right, my car couldn't hang with this BEAST!" I started laughing and said, "Damnit shoulda waited till you had your Boxter!" He laughed and said, "Nah you saved me the emabarrasment!" LOL

My bosses boss got a new Boxter S, nice blue one. He let me drive it a couple months ago with him in it, man I drove the hell out of that dudes car. I floored it once till the fuel shut-off came in around 7K. He said, "you break my motor, and I will dock your pay." HAHAHAHA

It didn't have sh*t on my Z28, hell, it didn't have shit on the 01 Cobra either. That was BEFORE I put the cam and LS6 intake mods on.

Now I got heads and an electric water pump, and about 200 lbs in weight reduction, everything stock is gonna feel slow! (except maybe a viper or new Z06 of course)

yeap the boxter S aint much 250hp and 225 lbs tq but they only weigh 2800+ lbs 0-60 in 5.7 seconds 1/4 mile 14 - 13.9+ i bet a turbo would wake it up

of course they are meant for road racing, where they will obviously hand any stock f-body its ass

The thing you are not considering is that the Boxster is NOT meant for straight line acceleration, it is designed for handling, sorta like a rx-8, on a road race ( IE auto-cross it is much more in it's element) Shame on the dude that owned EVEN trying...seems that guy is more impressed with the Porsche brand name than I am. I used to run an old 88 944 Turbo that I warmed up abit, would take ANY pre 95 Stang, Fbody that was lightly modded, but in no way would it run with a Modded LS1 or 4v SVT.. and that thing would have destroyed a Boxster.

Boxters are pathetic little machines. The only Porsche I've had the misfortune of losing against was a Carrera GT. He pulled me hard as hell, but thats probably because he has 50% more horse than I do.

There's all kindsa rich mofos around here with nothing better to spend their money on. I've seen an Ferrari F430 here even, I didn't even wanna mess with that shit though. Keep in mind, SLC is not a small city though.

I play pedestrian a lot around SLC, saves gas, I've seen F-Bodies pull buslengths on supercars, it's the most ironic shit out there. Talk about the final fuck you right there.
