Mach 1
Had a run in with what I think was an '03 or '04. We didn't really race cuz this guy was stupid, he flies passed me and cuts me off then races some piece of shit 80s daytona charger in the other lane. Needless to say we both blew the charger away and I had to hit the brakes to prevent myself from running the mach 1 over. I'm wondering what's different between mach 1s and GTs, and how fast are mach 1s. This car was realllllly loud, might have had a cutout, kinda sounded like shit when he let off the gas, raspy and popping. I tried picking on a few other GTs tonight but none of them wanted any, one guy yelled out the window "I'd race, but I have a baby in the backseat." and I said "yea, that's what they all say." Pretty lame night but how fast are mach 1s??

im not much of a mustang guy but I think Machs are 4 valve as oppesed to the GT 2 Valve motors. Correct me if im wrong.

Yea, I dunno, I just know they're faster than a GT and slower than a cobra, but don't know the differences.

03/04 Mach 1's have a N/A 310 HP 4V motor vice a N/A 260 HP 2V motor ala the GT. It has an aluminum block (GT is iron), 5-speed or A4 auto (both the same as the GT), and a live axle with 3.55 gears. There are other differences (mostly subtle), but those are the highlights.
M5 versions are quite a bit quicker than A4 versions. Mach 1s are capable of running low 13s stock, with most in the mid 13s. As a general rule, and stock to stock, an M5 Mach 1 is a very good race for an LS1 F-body (especially 98-00) from a dig, not as good from a roll.

mach 1s are almost an f body' equivalent stock for stock, and before the flaming starts just shut the hell up and listen.....it is all a drivers race. i think the ls1 has the edge but you have to be in the right gear and you have to drive! i made damn sure i was in a lower gear, even if that meant i only have 1500 or so rpm's to run out, because i raced one 3 times, beat it twice. the time i lost i was in third when i really should have been in second and he pulled on me. very nice cars and i have much respect for their potential. if you are modding then the margin grows in favor of the ls1 but dont rule them out as another sorry gt, theyre not.

That charger had a turbo and was about the biggest turd I ever seen.

^ Turd yes, but there are still plenty of those modded eleven second turds roaming around these here streets...

GT's are the 2V aluminum block, motors dont respond well to mods at all. Mach 1's have the 4V DOHC cast iron block, 99-01 cobras are essentially its equivalent, then you have the almighty Terminator. We ALL know what its packing.

GTs have 2V iron block. Mach 1s have 4V Aluminum blocks. The Mach 1 4V is similar to the 99/01 4V, with some differences that give the Mach 1 a bit better overall powerband.
The Mach 1 motor has a forged crank (M5 versions), but they do not have forged pistons nor strong rods, ala 03/04 Cobra.

My friend jsut got a mach 1 5 speed 14k miles on it. Nice car we went from a dig i took him by half a car from about 25 i took him by about 2 cars each time we went to about 100mph. Mods are im lowered headers exhaust, a lid and a clutch. His mods some kind of intake and exhaust. My friend is far better than me at stick too. He also owns a 87 supra i drove that car he drove the mach one race, well his supra makes 432rwhp so we know who won that one. But the cars are nice i like the interior.
