If you're going to magazine race Motor Trend, might as well be consistent....

    2000 WS6 T/A: 1/4 mile = 13.5 @ 107

    2006 Magnum SRT-8: 1/4 mile = 13.1 @ 108

    2006 Charger SRT-8: 1/4 mile = 13.5 @ 106

If you're going to pull the trigger, best come prepared.

I defer to C&D driver due to disclosed testing procedures, adjustments for atmospheric conditions and what probably 90% of owners can expect without standard drag-prep or speedshifting:

    Charger SRT-8 13.2 @ 109mph
    300 SRT-8 13.2 @ 109mph

I specifically Motor Trend only because that is what N20LT4 used to try and make his point. I typically would rather not engage in magazine racing.

No, splitting hairs here but C&D ran 13.2s @ 109mph (more telling is the trap speed) and MT 13.5. The range is from driver, conditions and traction, right?

No, only a standardization taking into account atmospheric conditions. They run w/ a full tank, 30lbs or so of test instrumentation, tires inflated to recommended PSI and practice various launch techniques and shift points, but always full lift-off throttle. No cool downs or other drag-prep stuff.

What ya running on that '99?

My latest (gosh I love saying that ) F-body is still very fresh, aquired it in May. Right now it's Bolt-ons, long-tubes, tune, Built A4, 3.73s, hollow sway bars, Eibach drag springs, and DR's. A Dyno Tune nitrous kit and cam/valvetrain combo is sitting...waiting to go on a 357 (.040) block. Known for building HOT 355 blower motors; thought I'd try somethin' new. The vette is stock.

11.43 on BFG DRs. N/A, M5. Motor is coming out to freshen, work the heads, and put in mild cams. Shooting for high 10s on slicks.

How about this? With LT and ORY, I am running 13.0 @ 108.9, street tires obviously. Before my headers I would run 13.17-13.5, 105-107.5. But, I get 28.5 MGP @ 75-80 MPH with AC on, now since the headers. What does the SRT-8 get at that speed? 20 MPG? 21? If I want that poor fuel mileage, I could do a heads/cam package for my car and knock another second off my 1/4 times..............the are nice cars, but way too heavy.
My wife wants to get rid or her Cherokee and get a Hemi Magnum. That will get better MPG than our Cherokee. (15 pulling our 1700 lb trailer) I'm all for that except we just added on to our house and gotta pay for that first.

I think they are too heavy too. However, I doubt that most people that buy an SRT-8 care about gas mileage. I would further suggest that most folks that bought an LS1 (or LT1, or [insert motor here]) F-body put a lot of weight (pardon the pun) on what kind of mpg they got either.

Speaking from personal experience, my very lightly modded 99 T/A got 26-28 mpg highway, and 17-18 mpg going to work and back. The highway was great (thank you .50 6th gear). Around town, mileage was rather poor.

Point(s) taken. You are right, I did not buy my TA because I was hoping for stellar gas mileage! That is only a bonus. I was used to my 400 4-speed 1967 Firebird. It got 9 city/11 highway. And after all the modding I did in the 11 years I had that car the best I ran was a 13.23 @ 105.7.

If you had a 120" wheelbase, 4 doors and a 5spd automatic running low 13s stock, you'd get the same mileage. You're comparing apples to oranges when the discussion is simply 1/4 mile times.

With room for 5, a huge trunk, luxury appointments and handling. I get the same mileage as a truck or SUV with far, far superior performance.

Dodge kind of went back to the 60's with the Charger SRT-8; you know, over 4000lbs, a whopping 425hp, and it only runs 13's.

That makes no sense. I guess BMW, Cadillac and the GTO did pretty much the same thing but without solid rear axles...

I am waiting to see the 2 door Challenger. Hopefully they can find a way to knock out 600 lbs. and still do an SRT-8 package, that would be killa. Then do a ragtop....
