killed a porsche 944 today
today I was going through town and I look behind me and there is a Porsche right behind me. I am thinking hummm to bad its right in the city and cars around. Well he passes me and is on the far right of 3 lanes. More temptation than I can stand so as we approach the next red light I get right behind him waiting on green. The light turns and there is no traffic in front of us so I go for it and pull out for the pass. We both have it kicked and I pass him easy, smoke his azz. We stop at the next red light and he says " hey I aint got much of a chance like that wanna race top end ? " I say my well my car is limited at 162 mph top end. You should have seen the look on his face lol. Look like he had seen a ghost. He was cool about it told me I had a nice car and I asked him what year his Porsche was. He said it was a 1986. I told him he had a cool car (it looked in good shape) and that I had not seen one in a long time that year. Man that was so much fun. I guess he thought I was joking on my tag frame that says IMPORT KILLER. Ya it stirs up some races but o well lol

I remember when they came out in 1986 but dont recall how fast they were
I looked up the numbers on the 1986 Porsche 944
Testing
Acceleration:
0 to 60 mph: 6.0 sec. (Car and Driver)
0 to 100 mph: 15.6 sec. (Car and Driver)
Standing 1/4 mile: 14.5 @ 97 mph (Car and Driver); 14.6 @ 97.5 mph (Road & Track)
Top Speed: 157 mph
not bad at allLast edited by Speedy_Gonzales; 05-05-2007 at 06:44 PM.

Red Fire- 2007 Mustang GT/CS
Heh, I had a 1988 Turbo 944 back in 1990 and while it wouldn't hang with my SS now, it was fast as anything on the road back then I ran into stock, I pulled down Many a 5.0 and IROC with that thing. The non-turbo one wouldn't hang with an MR2, let alone a real car and looks are subject to personal interpretation, mine was black on black on black with the alloy phone dials, and on a clear night with a fresh wax... well I got plenty of play off the girls on the beach. Altho that may have been cause I was a 20 year old with a newer Turbo Porsche.
Beating up on that old NA Porsche is like beating up on a V6 Daytona from that time period. You big Meanie !!
At least you saved him further embarrassment and gave him something to aspire too

I think by THOSE he was talking about the 944's. I have always liked the looks of them, but like 01 t-top said beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Any mods 98T/A?
