Killed a 2500 HD
hey guys I had a nice kill today. I was taking a load to Boerne TX when I had the freeway all to my lonesome. then a 2004-05 Silverado 2500 HD hauling a mobile home. IMO he was hauling around 10 tons (his truck weight included) and I was on my 1994 Freightliner (Cummings N14 twin turbo) hauling 79K lbs. So as he was merging I jumped on to the left lane to give him some room. I was doing about 55mph on 10th gear. well it was game because He wanted to over take me and attempted to jump to the left lane right as he made his entrance, but couldnt squeze through.
Get ready because this was long but awesome! after a half of mile we went up a hill so I downshifted to 9th to get over it. he was having some problems in the hill as well. I was guessing he was fully loaded. So after a few minutes we had the plain all to ourselves he then floored it. and I heard his engine roar. I shifted to 10th and I got a good response from my engine, so around
2k I upgraded to 11th and he had his truck ahead of me. once I hit 12th I started pulling and got my tractor on him and I blew him away on 13th I got about a tractor trailer on him and took the rigt lane back.
this kill was incredebly long but it was really fun!

Thats pretty sweet nothing like racing a big truck with a trailer, I dont drive a tractor trailer but a big truck on occasion, it is an international I think it is a dt4600?. However it is nothing like a figure 8 trailer race at crashfest here in Indiana,My buddies and me are in it this year should be good times.

exacly its really fun, but sometimes I dont really push it because I respect its power but I fear its delicatsy.
I actually did a swap and modded the engine a little. I swaped the stock Rockwell 9speed transmission for a 13 speed, shorter driveshaft, and 4.75 gears. when I bought it It had one big turbo and a small one next to it. but I replaced the small one for a 96mm. If i could make an estimate oh HP I am probably at 570 HP and at least 2000-2300 lbs/tq

yep its a cummings N14 (red top) engine internal work done (by previous owner) with one big turbo and I swaped out the smaller one for a 96mm and lets not forget an adjustable fuel supply system.

actually it was a swap! previous owner blew out his engine and swaped this one out of a totalled 2001 Freightliner. Thats what I like about the Freightliners they are POC's but they can fit anything!. on Theese types of engines we dont look for HP we want torque Im probably pushing 550-580Hp and 2000-2300 torque give or take. The new Cummings ISX egine is a beast that one is rated at 600 with 2500-3000 lbs (depending on the setup) of course you can take your truck to have it de-tuned or "opened up" to exceed the factory ratings, that will totally wake the truck up.

yeah the duramax would have held to you alot better than a gas motor.
