Got a bench race for ya...
A guy I work with just told me he bought a Vortec S-trim for his 2004 2v GT and will not be intercooling it, just using meth. Also, he has an intake, catback, 3.73's, and tunes it through a handheld tuner...I'll be done rebuilding my motor in the next few weeks (230/230 cam only, 02 ls6 shortblock, full bolt ons, and td exhaust) I have no suspension mods yet (yikes) and my friends GT is lowered. I'm an m6, he has m5.
What kinda power would his car make, cause I think he'll be running about 9 lbs from what he said? I hope to be at around 400+whp, and as close to 400rwtq as possible.

I'm a decent driver, can't get traction for shit though but I know for a fact he cant either cause I've ridden in his car. I'll get some vids come springtime. He's a pretty mellow guy and isn't talkin shit or anything, but I think he's a little on the "ignorant" side when it comes to LSX motors and their power potential.
On another note: I know a guy who recently purchased a 2004 Viper and I wanna race him SOOOOO bad! I've ridden in the car and it is mean, and I'll probably lose, but I wanna give him a run just for the hell of it...

those gt's even on boost rarely see past mid 350's if they want to last, he would have been better off building a 5.4. For his sake tell him to get a real tune he's wasting money as it is.

Im no car "expert" let alone a Mustang expert, but I told him to get rid of that handheld when he installs the vortech, but he insists that its the best in the mustang world so we'll see.
I hope I can drive my car come spring having not driven it all winter otherwise it may be a close race haha!

if he blows the motor than he can get a cobra block or a 5.4. Just wait for those injectors to go and watch him lean out-boom

Your welcome, what mods do you have?
I just have LTs, X pipe dumped before axel, Ebay CAI and some suspension mods, street tires lol. I think thats great for an LT1.

First, kick your friend in the junk for not getting the Vortech aftercooler they sell. Without the aftercooler and long tubes with no cats, he will be lucky to see 350 to the wheels.
The Meth kits are better on builds that have reach the peak of what the stock shortblock can handle. Also, with that hand held tuner, he'll blow up his engine in a few weeks or days.... Now if he was intelligent, he would have got the aftercooler and slap on full exhaust. Easy 400 to the tires, then the Meth would actually be worth it.

I had bolt ons and td's with h-pipe, untuned at the time and on shitty street tires with that pewpy 2.195 60'. My cousin has a 95' T/A with bolt ons and the previous owners best was 13.2 so I'd say that time is hella good for a bolt on Lt1.
I dunno all that much about Mustangs but I told him to get an intercooler (didn't really know vortech used an aftercooler) and he swore up and down that the meth alone would make more power and be safer. I told him (with very basic knowledge) that meth is more a of a stabilizing agent and it would add in safety but it is only to enhance power and add safety at the same time...I dunno, that's my basic understanding of it.

Your buddy is definitely cutting corners with his build. 350ish at the wheels should be right in the ballpark for him -- you should easily find yourself in the 400 rwhp range.
I'd put my money on you in this one.
I ran an 03 2V with Vortech + Intercooler + cams + full exhaust + gears back when I only had a cam and bolt ons and I pulled on him in a highway roll race (we started around 60 - 70 if I recall correctly). I believe he was at 7 lbs, however he had all of the supporting mods to go with it.

Windveil Blue- 2008 Ford Mustang GT
You should defiently have him. If he is brave(stupid) he could get crazy with his timing on that meth setup. If he is reasonable he will end up with about 370rwhp.

typical mustang owner.... handheld tuners don't tune for shit, a S/C with out proper support is just being able to say "hey i got a S/C" so judging by this i give you the lead....
