going to race a 96 cobra

There is a guy around here that is on the hunt for my car lol and he says i wont stand a chance. He has a 96 cobra w/ exhaust and cai. Would i have a good chance at beating him. My car has been in the shop for a new clutch so i havent got to race him yet. What would you guess. Mods in sig and i will have added ewp, tb bypass and air foil at the time if not more.

Is the 93 Z28 running an LT1 engine? If so, with your mods, you should win.

LT1 vs 96->98 4.6 dohc stock for stock is tight. 99 and 01 cobra would walk a stock LT1. He's not going to get too much out of CAI and exhaust

If you are not running at least an LT1 in your z28, he will probably win

He might be putting 270 something to the wheels with that combo. You should take him, but I think it will be a driver's race.

The 96 cobra should be running about 13.8 - 14.0 @ 99-101

my 01 coupe ran 13.8@103 and then 13.4@106 after exhaust and CAI (and some more racing experience :-) )

i have never ran at a track. The guy i got it off of went 13.7 @105 with a 2.2 60' I figure with a good sub 2.x 60' that should be low 13s maybe a high 12. When i got the car it was backfiring he told me it was from not having cats. I didnt know alot about lt1s at the time so i went with it.

I ran my buddys 98 ss (no options ... so it was lighter) At a 25 mph punch i should have been in second but i started in first. He got me by a car. Also that was my second day of driving a standard. Then three weeks later I ran a buddy in a ls1 gto from a 3rd gear punch he only had put a .5 car on me and was not pulling to great i was very pleased.
Well I later found out my number 7 cylinder was dead due to a burnt wire. And my opti was going out. It had cracked and gotten wet. So I raced those two guys with a dead cylinder and all but one plug wire burnt. I replaced the wires and opti. And then broke the clutch. So im picking it up out of the shop i hope tomarrow.

and yes i have an lt1 not as great as the ls1 but hey its good for now. Oh and i have some bfg drags for it. Im kinda afraid for my 10 bolt.

I have had the pleasure of destroying more than one of those mid 90s cobra in my 93z. I also just recently got another chance in my stock 02 Z28, well except for the free mods. And that race was over before I shifted. And I will say I didn’t pick any of these fights. You should have no issues unless you blow the launch or he sprays ya. The 01 cobras and newer are bad though. I work with a guy that has a 02 that puts down 560RWHP. Very impressive
