Formula Vs Mustang Gt
I am sure there have been many discussions on which is quickest. My youngest daughter has my 01 LS1 formula bone stock except flowmasters. My oldest just bought and 08 mustang GT both are automatics. They were wanting to race each other to see which is the quickest. This is not going to happen hopefully. Does anyone have any good knowlege which is quickest. I have driven both and I cant tell. Your input may save a couple of speeding tickets. Thanks

2008 Ford Mustang GT: (test conducted by Mustangs and Fast Fords Magazine)
0 to 60 mph: 5.1 seconds
1/4 Mile Time: 13.8 seconds
2000 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am: (Test Conducted by Motor Trend Magazine in 1999)
0 to 60 4.9 Seconds
1/4 Mile Time: 13.4 Seconds
These are Magazine test results. The Pontiac is a 2000 TA vs the 2001 Formula that your daughter has but pretty close to the same car. Your daughters car would actually be slightly higher in HP than the listed TA because of the addition of the LS6 intake manifold for the 01 and 02 model years. I couldn't find an actual test result for a 2001 Formy. Hope this helps settle the dispute. I'm sure other members on the board will have more info.Last edited by SINISTER-TA; 07-28-2008 at 09:22 PM.

some would say with those two types of muscle it all boils down to who wants it the most and is the better driver although supposedly women do have a better reaction time to racing the easiest way is to take them both to the strip and do best 2 outta 3 then have them switch and drive each others ride.. but good luck...your facing the inevitable
some day soon they will race you just better hope its on the strip and not in heavy traffic....

Black 2002 T/A M6- Green 1997 Ram 4x4
Eh, you're definatly fighting a losing battle. The imput of a few nameless, faceless, keyboard jockey's isn't going to satisfy either of them. Neither will magazine articles.
I have to agree with just planning a mini family vacation to the drag strip one weekend. Have the girls do a best 2 out of 3 with each other, and let that be the end of it.
Otherwise....I hope they're not on your insurance!

a 2001 formula (2nd lightest f-body produced) has the ability to do low 13s in stock trim.
08 stangs are mid to upper 13 second cars.

red- 2001 formula
thanks for the input guys. It seems by the times sinister-TA posted they are both quick. Yes they are both on my insurance policy. I have the big insurance monthly bill to prove it. Like most of you guys said I do feel my old formula might be quicker. I really hope they dont actually want to prove who is right or wrong.
