    There is a guy I know That has a moded 2005
    Evo. The guy says it makes 470 at the wheels and runs 10.9s. I know Evo's can be bad ass but I was just wondering what it takes to get that much power and is 470 in a Evo enough to run those times seems a little quick.

    Its very posible with those numbers. Im sure he has a bigger turbo, fuel system, all supporting mods....pretty much a fully bolted, bigger turbo EVO. If i could get 470 outta my lighter car i would have traps indidcating high 10s.....but his AWD gets him there

    almost 500hp AWD car running 10.9s.......bout 135ish im guessing

    Its actually not too hard to extract that power level out of the cars even on a stock engine (minus cams of course).

    He probably has a GT35R or something a little smaller. However, most people with 35Rs setup PROPERLY will make 500+ on high boost.

    The exact mod list will be something sort of like full bolt-ons+cams, fuel pump/injectors, turbo kit, and either some race gas or methanol injection. Most people are using meth injection now including myself.

    My car has a small turbo on it (20G) and my car should put down around 460whp on pump gas with the meth turned on. Now, I doubt I can run 10s, unless I get some drag radials but low 11s are definitely possible.

    As for the 10.9, most guys running around there are between 128-134mph depending upon the setup. If youre trapping 132+ and only going 10.9, you have some work to do. Guy on the board just went 11.2@123!

    135 at 10.9 means no traction outta the hole, which should never really be the case w/ a AWD. I'd say you're lookin closer to 120-125 in a high 10, low 11 car. Probably right around 125.

    friends jake had a bigger turbo and cams with bolt ons and supporting mods, he went a 11.29 on his first run kinda taking it easy on the car, but he didnt have a roll cage so they made him leave, he could have touched tens easy on his 3rd run if he really went for it. That car was insane, but he sold it with 10,000miles on it and bought a 99 z28 lol, he said he wanted something with more potential, hes talked like 1200rwhp. He actually stripped his 98 saturn and put a 350 in it and made it rear wheel drive, he just has too much money and time on his hands.

    You can have traction issues with the stock turbo, believe me. When you have in upwards of 450-500awhp, leaving the line with 15psi at 6000rpm... you fight for traction believe me! Our first gear only goes to 40mph.

    Thats why they make DR's. Although I don't/can't feel bad for anyone launching at 6000RPM's.. Thats where my Impala shifts......

    Only 40mph? Thats a long gear.

    40mph@7000rpm is not a long gear. Take a ride in an EVO and youll know what I mean. Alls Im saying is that even with 370-400whp, we can spin too.

    470 awhp out of a stock motor???? thats 600 flywheel......hard to belive one could do that and be reliable....and im not saying anybodys wrong here....i dont know enough about evos......sounds far fetched though..dont they usually stroke them to a 2.3 when making that kinda power?

    Dude 470whp aint no thang at this point. There are TONS of guys making well over 500whp on the stock block on EVOs. Many have been doing it for a while and seems to be quite reliable.

    You can stroke them to a 2.3L and that is mainly for additional torque and quicker spool with big turbos. If anything the 2.0Ls have been proven to be more reliable. Most people who are going over 550whp opt to build the motor.

    BTW the record for power on the EVO's stock block is 689whp. It was set by ETS on a GT35R with a 75shot. Keep in mind the stock rods are forged.

    Oh Im chillin here, just got back from the beach actually.

    I dont have any slips with the new setup, it been too hot here to even bother going to the track. Hopefully it will cool down next week so I can make a trip.
