With enough power almost anything is possible. But bricks are not meant to go fast. Imagine the same power in a more aerodynamically sound vehicle. It would be a much better setup with more top speed and better stability. That is why we dont see new ferraris and corvettes designed like a srt8s and phantoms.

had mine at 166 and still pulling slowly, but ran out of road! it would hit 170+ no problem on the right stretch.
    Ever try the search function?

An SRT-8 will hit 150mph about 6-7 seconds before an LS1 due to the shift into 5th a 3:42 fbody has make. And they are documented 172mph cars, too. Think C5 6M. Nearly identical performance.

.355 cd. Despite the frontal area top-end isn't a problem when you're making 425hp near redline in a 1:1 gear that tops out over 170mph....

Although i know the srt-8 cars pull hard up top i think 6-7 seconds is a bit of a lie

Saying they will hit 150 6-7 sec ahead is a stretch, maybe an a4 car, m6 I find that hard to believe. The only way to prove you are right on that subject is some video proof or where someone actually tested it. Right now your information sounds like hearsay or personal experience with a hasty generalization that all ls1s pull the same. There is a big difference between a stock manual and auto when pulling to 150mph.

Like I said before bricks do not fly very well, imagine the motor and driveline in a smaller, lighter, more aerodynamic vehicle. It would be much faster than a srt8 in every aspect.

I would have loved to have seen mopar put the srt8 engine in a small, aerodynamic, <3500lb, rwd coupe, and make it around 25k-30k but that would be to easy to build what people want and what would sell.

have any proof of this? i find it hard to believe when they're running mid 13's at 103ish mph in the 1\4

Lol they are not, i have seen bone stock srt-8 cars run 13.1s at 107-109mph.

Hell the bone stock srt-8 jeep traps 103-104mph stock, maybe thats what you are thinking of

so all srt8's everywhere are running 13.1's at all times?

i can see them running lower 13s with a good driver.

No, but all the SRT-8 cars except some of the challenger are autos, so they all run and trap damn near close times at same elevation. And since anyone can push a gas pedal they run low to mid 13s consistently and yes people have dipped into the high 12s with them. Since the new challenger is 100lbs less than the charger and is going to have a manual options i bet quite a few people will get those to hit 12.9s

then why are mags getting such poor speeds out of them? the poor driving accounts for the slow times, but how are they going from 103 to 109? that's quite the spread...

You do realize that some mags got a best time of 13.8 for the WS6 and SS? Since then people have gone as low as 12.8s stock.

most mags got around 13.5 for an ls1 car--- most good drivers get low 13s.

yes very very few people have got a stock ls1 into the 12s. about as many who got an srt8 into the 12s, or an evo and sti... it might have happened once somewhere, but it aint gonna happen to you. nobody considers ls1 fbodys 12 second cars, just like srt8s, evos and sti's.

There are more people who have gotten stock evo 9s annd xs into the 12s than ls1 cars, same with the 08+ STI. Im not trying to say the srt-8 cars are 12 second cars, i just said low 13s @107-109mph isnt hard

you've lost your mind if you think an 08+ STI is dropping anywhere near 12's STOCK. once you realize this is the internet, and ppl are full of shit, you'll be alot better off. I could lie all day long and say my car is stock, with a muffler and give you quicker times than something stock is running. You'd have a better chance of hitting that 12.9 in an 05 or 06 STI than you would a new one.
