    Corsica vs 442 Cutlass!

And the 1993 3.1L V6 (186XXX mile) Corsica wins the battle

I roll up on this mid 80's 442 Cutlass that looks to be in rough shape (IE Rusted through body panels, exhaust hanging, etc..) We catch the light and due to my exhaust being garbage, my Corsica is louder then my Maro I wait for the light to go green while I gas the car up and the light hits. I instantly jump about a car and a half on him but then hear his beast coming. By the time we were through the light, he had made up all that distance and put half a car on me. I stopped his pull and creeped all the way back in the lead by 65mph when we shut it down (Due to upcoming traffic) and I had 1/2 a car on him

    Run what ya brung

Can't believe I took the damn thing but it was hilarious nontheless

Probably had the 307 v8 that made a whopping 190 hp.

No clue what my stock Corsica with the miles it has on it is pulling but I treat my car like gold. Sythentic oils every change and such I know my car is hundreds of pounds lighter then that car but I still find it funny

    109 hp? haha

Those early 80s were very slow. Not sure if they even had decent gearing in them. There were a few at the show this weekend that were like new with under 20k miles. Lightening rods in tact! haha

This makes the Corsica's record at 6-0. I had 5 prior races against my buddies 5.0L LTD He kept getting pissed at me

    3.1L = V8 killa

I would love to find the video of a member here that Turbo'd his 3.1L Corsica and had it running 13.1's with 6lbs of boost

My first car was an 85 cutlass with the 307 with a rod knocking. I had to powerbrake that thing in wet roads just to get any kind of wheelspin.

I think the Hurst Olds Cutlass in the 80s got the 305 ho so about 185ish hp?

Pretty sure it had the Olds 307 engine. The Monte SS had the Chevy 305 and I think the Pontiac GP 2+2 had the 305 also.

Nice kill, OP, my winter beater (90 Cavalier Z24 w/a 3.1) shocks a lot of people too!

It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

I believe they used the shitty olds 260 v8 also in the 80's which (iirc) barely made enough power to turn it's own crank let alone move a 4000 lbs Fisher carage car..
The Cutlass International with the 225+hp w-41 Quad-4 was a much more powerfull and better, faster car than many cars powered by the 305-307..

As well as any high feature 660 J-body would blow the doors off an 80's 442 (all auto's) from a dig, roll, your choice..

If the "J" happens to be a High feature 660 with the Muncie 5spd the 80's 442 would see your tail lights for prolly the first 60ft.

After that it would be like a stock LS1 vs. a stock 86 iroc..

^^^Yeah, I remember the Olds 260! What a powerhouse that was. But for the Hurst/Olds 442 in the mid 80s, they used the hugely powerful 307. (said with tongue-in-cheek)
I think a few of them managed to crack into the 15s in the 1/4.

And you're right about the Muncie 5 speed car being way faster than the quoted 442, spank indeed!

Some pretty sad years for small blocks...
    I had a 77 Nova with 2barrel 305.
cam, lifters, carb, intake, headers, and dual exhaust made it a killer in the late 80s when I first started driving.
I knew it wasn't much, but it ATE up a few BBCs at the track.
The 305 HOs didn't hold a candle to the one I worked over. Again, I know it wasn't much, but in comparison...
The 260, 262,265, 267...whatever even smaller V-8s were real bad too.
I went onto a 301 Pontiac for a bit in a 1980 Formula, sweet car but that motor was anemic, weak, poor, lousy, whatever. Hard to believe factory added their lil' turbo too.
