By "stock motor", I'm referring to those cars which have external bolt-ons only, ie...internally stock, no modifications to the heads, stock cams, stock short block, etc. Typical mods would be full exhaust, gearing, suspension, weight reduction, perhaps aftermarket intakes, etc.

    Thanks.
    Bob

PS....Note I specified M6 because quite frankly, Ford automatics generally suck, and can't compete (performance wise) with their GM counterparts. Manuals, on the other hand, all come from the same company (TTC).
    why?

    That is "why".

Is there any other reason you don't wish to answer the question? Perhaps you wouldn't like the answer?

Additionally, Mustangs are not "always heavier" than F-bodies. In fact, it is usually the other way around. Because of this, and things like gearing (not just final drive ratio), bone stock Mustangs like the Mach 1 are a very good matchup against a bone stock LS1. Though personally, I'd still give the edge to the LS1 (assuming equal drivers).

no see this is my problem that mustang owners always seem to do..well the term or the mach or the cobra..well i dont give a shit. svt handled that..and i dont care about those cars because they arent factory stock..at least i dont consider that factory stock. those are special editions. just talking GT.

i mean its the same as people who talk about 93-97 vs 98-02 and they talk about ohh well what about the lt-4 that was in the firehawks ...i dont give a shit ..that is a rarity. and the fact is the f-bodies didnt have huge overhaul editions like the mustang did period. i have no problem with mustangs. so go ahead and give me all these situations about how the mustang is better then the ls1..but it doesnt matter

Nope Iowned the Mach 1 and there is no way stock for stock you would win unless the driver in the Mach sucks and with a 430 gear.... good bye and no other mods you can do your exhaust ..pullies cai it wont matter you will still lose those cars work well right outta the box and handle like mad ...I was going to buy a Camaro ,but decided to keep the rivalry going and was glad I did ..If you get a chance to drive one try it first give it a fair cahnce and line up on a camaro and pump it !

If you are referring to 05+(even though the GTs and F-bodies are very similar in weight) then yes you are correct but there arent any F-bodes to compare them to in these years so we stick to anything later than 02 and Mustangs have always been lighter except for the 03-04 Cobra.

LS1 F Body (stock) > All non supercharged mustangs/cobras (also stock)

    PERIOD.

GM should have supercharged the F bodies in 03 rather than getting rid of them. (Cobra sales nosedive due to 500 rwhp camaros and trans ams)

oops silly me i dont have my facts straight.
I can't believe I'm arguing over weight. But anyway....

There is no doubt an 01 LS1 F-body is quicker than an 01 Cobra. I would not even begin to argue that point. However, your weight statement is incorrect.

    2001 Cobra = 3430
    2001 Z28 = 3439
    2001 Mustang GT = 3273

Note that I'm showing the heaviest non-blown Mustang (01 Cobra) and the lightest LS1 F-body (Z28), along with the most common V8 Mustang, the GT. Also note I linked my source.

Though I cannot show proof, I can also tell you that my 99 T/A weighed 3660 lbs (with me) at VMP in October of 1999. My 99 Cobra weighed 3600 lbs (with me) at VMP in the summer of 2000.

Have you had an example of both cars in question?

LOL. My 98 & 99 Cobra weren't "Factory Stock"? ROFLOL. Uncle. There is no arguing with that.....uh....."logic". Now, my 99 T/A wasn't factory stock....the orginal owner did some mods to it before I purchased it. Darn.

And if you don't care about them, then why reference the Cobra in your little statement about weight? Bueller?

    BTW....is your 98 WS6 "factory stock"?

    Bob
