    Challenger srt8

Yesterday in Ohio it was actually pretty nice out, 43 degrees and sunny. I decided to break the Z out of storage and weld on my SFC's. Well After I got them welded on at my Shop I hopped on 11 north to head back to my house and saw an SRT8 challenger infront of me so I figured I'd see if he wanted to play. Sure enough he did.

I pulled up next to him and gave him a thumbs up and he proceeded to down shift. I hit three honks dropped to third doing 70 broke the tires loose a bit and we both took off. We ran to 125, at first he got a nose on me since I was burning the hides(Damn Sumitomo's) but I managed to pull him by 5 or 6 car lengths once I hooked hard ( I feel bad for my 10 bolt lol). I was pretty happy with my run. However I was expecting a bit more of a fight from the Challenger like maybe 2-3 lengths.

I pulled off at my exit and stopped at the gas station to fill up. He pulled in next to me and we proceeded to talk. Seems like a cool guy. Hes gonna have me do his cam install this summer. After that I think he'll be right there with me. All in all It felt nice to get the adrenaline going again!!!!

Ported and Milled 5.3 HEADS, FAST 90/90, small 224R, ls7 clutch, bulit t56, 25%UD Pulley. I knew what the outcome would be, it was still fun to roll though!

very nice... I was expecting a different outcome until i saw your mods, ha. I was with my dad in his srt challenger and a guy in a camaro (ls1) tried to run us, and got blown away.. It kinda hurt me though since I too have an ls1

Yea I thought about buying an R/T before I did the H/c swap on my z as a DD. However I can't say the R/T M6 is much better than my Z28. My only confrontation with the SRT8 Chanllenger is Price. I think the car is awesome however For mid to high forty g's I'd rather Go buy a Base model C6 or slightly used C6 with the z51 package and own almost anything on the road with just a few mods. Thats just my .02 cents.

Hows your dad liking his SRT? My best friend owns a Dodge Dealer and has been trying to talk my dad into trading in his 650 Bmw for one.

he doesn't drive it a whole lot.. its been snowing off and on here, and they pour the sand/ salt mix shit all the time so he never takes it out.. he still loves the car though. His charger srt8 just passed the warranty so he's looking around at superchargers for it.

Nice kill! I really like the SRT-8 Challengers as well. Sharp looking cars and they run quite well for their size. I've been trying to get an idea how I would fare against one and I think you gave me a pretty good idea.

To be honest not too sure, I did all the power mods at once. It def revs up faster though.

Even more off topic, how does your LS7 clutch hold up to your power? Any lazy pedal when really getting on it? I'm torn between that and a kevlar Zoom clutch kit, and if the LS7 holds up to your power, then why spend the extra $400....

    Sorry for thread jacking...

Nice kill, he still won't be able to hang with just a cam. 70mph is the dead spot for the 5A on the SRT-8s. He should have known better racing any LS1 at that speed, stock or not.

Was at the strip with my 02 Z28. Mods are DR's, Diablosport Predator tune, FRAM, lid and a Magnaflow ,catback. Ran a couple Challenger SRT8's. I beat them by 2 tenths and they weren't stock. One had a K&n and a 6m with a tune and the other had a 5A with a tune intake and a magnaflow catback. I had them by 2 tenths every time.

SRT8 cars have a hard time with lightly modded LS1 F-Bodies or stock GTO's every time they try. Damn Mopars are just too heavy. They are really nice driving cars though and would make an excellent everyday or highway long trip car. Just not good drag racers.
