    Beat by a 240

    This is the first time I've really been beat since I got my SS back in April not that I race a lot. Not much for mods a lid, catback and 410s. I've beat plenty of imports STIs, WRXs, civics, 300Zs, etc... but never raced a 240. It was some 19yr old kid and the passenger was a friend of my daughters. We talked at the light and I knew something was up because I heard his car in traffic both the turbo and BOV it sounded really strong. I figured he had swapped in some sort of S motor and modded it out. Plus he was overly impressed with my car and playing his down as just a little 4 banger from japan. Light went green I limped out of the gate which was a mistake I let him spool up before I hit it. I spun through 1st and part of 2nd he had me by a half a car. It stayed that way until third when we both backed off. I'm sure with DRs, and not letting him hit it first I would have won by maybe a car or so but damn fast 240 and he beat me fair and square. It's what I get for underestimating him I just didn't think it would be that fast.

    Well they my old one stripped down only weighed 2450lbs, i have seen 240s with ls1s in them and a stock ls1 in a 240 with just exhaust runs 11.7-12.0.

    I knew they were light I just didn't realize the kind of power some of them are making after a swap. Looks like lightly modded SR20s are in the 12s. We may have v8 power but we have to over come over 1000lbs with most of these stripped down modded imports.

    Nah the stock sr20 is weak, makes less than 200rwhp, the can be modded i think the record is just under 700rwhp.

    The 26 takes alot of work to put into those cars, the 25 is easier but those motors still only make 250hp, but can be built to 900 or so.

    still better then the SR20... I've also seen that they put Turbos on the K24's that they originally come with and make it into a pretty stout machine...

    Lol my buddy pauls k24 has one making 540rwhp, his old setup made over 600rwhp however he uses it for drifting and turned to power down. Also has a 30 shot to spool his turbo faster.

    My buddy has a 240 with an RB26 in it. That thing is nuts. He never drives it anymore though.

    Yeah but those inline 6s also take away the main advantage 240s have, weight, pauls is stripped on even with his huge turbo intercooler and roll cage only weighs 2500lbs.

    I really dont mind them, this on here the other day was telling me that a lightning would rape my friends old 240, it was a 89 only mods were we switched it over to a 5 speed and it had a 75 dry shot, and i told him it took a lightning with exhaust on the freeway 80-120 by about a car and he was telling me how fast lightnings were top end. The 240sx ran a 14.6 with that 75 shot. And we all know those trucks and shit top end.
