Any NEW 350z encounters?
It has come to my attention that the '07 and up Nissan 350z's are now equipped with an upgraded version of Nissan's 3.5 V6. This new engine, the VQ35HR is rated at over 300 horsepower and the guys on the Z forums are turning mid/low 13s in the 1/4 with these cars.
I'm curious as to how a stock/near stock LS1 is going to fare against one of these new Z's.
The revised VQ35HR seems to be as similar a leap as the LS1 was to the LT1.
As an enthusiast (and former Turbo Z owner from the 80's), I'm very interested.

Collector Yellow- 2002 Pontiac Trans Am CE
I killed one a few months ago, but I'm not sure what year it was. It was a freeway race and he stayed with me from 40-90, but after 90 he faded a little.

They aren't that much faster.
You're on a downhill track if you can pull a low 13 in one of those pieces of crap.

Based on the posts of his that I've seen, I'd sooner believe that Britney Spears and Lindsey Lohan would start wearing underwear before Wesman drove a Civic.
Unless he's actually a closet import lover
Back to 350z, even if the new ones are faster, they are still ugly

Ehh the 350Zs arent that bad looking, when they first came out I would sometimes get it mixed up with a porshe. But then again I think most porshes are ugly.

Regardless of who makes it, 300+hp out of a 3.5 v6 without FI is impressive.

The reason they can get that much out of a 3.5 is because its pretty much maxxed out from the factory. Hence the reason full bolt on 350Z's aren't much faster than stock ones, Nissan got as much out of the engine as they could from the factory. Can't say I'm really impressed.

those new high rev motors are gonna pump out some much better numbers compared to the older models. but anything with the older engine should probably turn out about a 14.3 in the quarter. i am not sure about the new ones.

I'm going to be watching for them.
The new Infiniti G37 has a 330-horse 3.7 V6 that is rumored to be the next upgrade for the Z. That would make it the 370z when and if it happens.
Initially, I hated the 350z because it was filling in for the priorly canceled Twin Turbo 300zx. They were uglier, slower, and had less mod potential than the 300.
But now, they keep making them faster, and so you can't really complain about that. The car has kinda grown on me over the years.

I'd rather see them go back to the twin turbo setup so you can do some cheap easy mods and make them fast.

I don't like the 350Z at all!!
But No motor is MAXED from factory WESASS!!
But I know wesman has a few HONDA buddies!! I have heard him talk about them b/f so Im thinkin deep down inside it burns him to admit it but he loves a honda with a weedeater 2 stroke turbo running on 13's

Really? Then why do 350Z's hardly gain any power from bolt ons?? The engine is at its N/A potential, thats how they get 300HP out of it from the factory. Try and use some common sense.
