98SS V's 03 Cobra

Was driving to the office a few days ago in thick Atlanta traffic when I noticed a late model Cobra drive by my right side (think it was an 03), he was revving the shit out of it. It just so happened that his lane was moving a little faster than mine and every time he drove by he’d stomp on it and then slow down and look over with a shit-eating grin on his face. I was thinking to myself

is this guy doing, doesn’t he see all the cars around us but who am I to complain, I’d been looking for something to run with and so badly wanted to wipe that stupid grin off his face. After going through a few more lights and watching this guy taunt me all the way we were finally lined up under a red light, I rolled down my passenger window and yelled go on green. Must admit was a little nervous, never been up against a Cobra and didn’t know what to expect. Light turns green and we both hit it, I gave it everything I had. It was bumper to bumper through 1st and then I through it 2nd and started to pull on him got into 3rd and he was about 2 cars behind. At this point we were catching up with all the traffic at the next light so had to get off it, I looked over as he went by and he wouldn’t even look at me (ASSHOLE). The only satisfaction I got out of him was that he wasn’t revving the shit out of the Stang as he went by this time, actually he was rather quiet. As all the cars behind started to catch up I could see more and more people giving me the thumbs up. At least some people appreciate a good ass whooping. Made my day…

You sure it was an '03? If he had any clue on how to drive he most likely would've beat you.

The non-supercharged Cobra's aren't that fast though.

You don't know that bro...maybe the cobra driver wasn't all that great, or maybe LSgun is a really good driver. There's more to racing than HP...and i'm sure you know that.

Good point. @ out track, there are two with almost identical set ups & both with small pullies. The owner whom can drive runs low 12's. The one who can't runs right around 14.0. BTW, we have a slow track. I wouldn't take offense to comments about the car not being an 03. Based on 98 LSGUN's mods., an encounter with a well driven 03 would likely have resulted in a loss. As mentioned, anything can happen in a race. Haven't seen that anyone has doubted the kill. It was a good kill & is always nice to beat someone who's been taunting you.

good race... i hate asshole drivers, whether they are in mustangs or camaros...

03's are not that easy to drive off of the line... if you get on it too fast, wheelhop abounds... too slow, ya lost the race... it takes practice...

i call bs no way u beat 03 with those mods, maybe keep up, i ran 7.9 1\8 stock 03 w no mods.

This is not about you. I have read wear stock ls1 camaros running high 12s
on the drag strip in 90 degree weather. Could be a hot factory camaro and a
dog cobra from the factory. some run better then others.
Being said what did your stang do in the 1/4.
