Why do people even say that? LS1 is a far superior motor to the LT1. Just look at the 1/4 times. LS1 will come out on top without any problem at all.

Right. I just didn't know what percent drivetrain loss F-body owners use to compute it.

For some reason I get the idea that you probably don't know anymore about either engines except for their stock horsepower numbers. The '96-97 Camaro SS was not far at all behind the LS1 F-bodies. It doesn't take much to get an LT1 on par with a stock LS1. Been there several times.

    Sadly now demodded :(

In my case my stock 96 Z28 (LT1/A4) put down 240rwhp/300rwt. On the same dyno my stock 02 Z28 (LS1/A4) put down 306rwhp/323rwt. Both of these were basline figures with no mods.

    The 96 went a best 14.2 @ 99mph while the 02 went a best 13.72 @ 103mph. These are baseline speeds prior to moding.

IMHO, while a LT1 car can be made to run hard, the LS1 is a superior starting point, primarily due to the heads and intake selection.

Thats a good set of mods imo. Just think what the LS1 would do with that.

Once you start building an LT and LS they will start to get very similar.
Plus factor in price cost of buying an LS car vs. an LT and price of cost.
Then if you want to go all out, look at an iron block vs. aluminum block.
I have had my share of runs with LS1s, a friend of mine has an 01 SS stripper with all SLP parts plus kooks headers, and a 3200 stall and I can still barely pull on him. I think people dont give the LTs enough credit like they should have.

Well just think what an LT1 would do with a good set of heads and intake! The cork is the LT1's 170cc heads. Take my '97 for example. It put down 441 rwhp before the bottle which is pretty much what your average "high-end" built stock stroke h/c LS1 is playing with. Remember these numbers are on the stock 3.48" stroke. I own both, an LT and LS, so I am not biased at all. Of course an engine with a half decade worth of technology is going to be better out of the box. I would only hope so. But do not underestimate what a properly built LT1 is capable of.

Hes right your wrong, the 01 z-28s had 310 HP not 340.

For the last time guys GM derated the '98-02 Camaro & Firebird to protect the image of the more expensive Corvette, which had the same exact LS1 motor inside it as the F-bodies did. There were no alterations done to the Corvettes LS1 whatsoever. How could a car rated at 310hp be making around 300 or more at the wheels? That's common sense guys. In reality, the LS1 F-bodies put out an honest 340-350 horsepower at the fly.

Are you serious? If 01 z28's make 310 engine hp, the drivetrain loss must be 0 to -2%.. Ford cant touch that!! JK

My 94 Z has, exhuast cut out, flowmaster, Tune, TB bypass, K&N Fipk and 4.10 gears. My 01 as we speak just has the SLP lid have not installed my other parts on the car yet.

I think the 94 will hang probably in 1st gear but after that its gonna be an easy walk for my 01 but will see what happens thinking of doing this on the weekend maybe getting the camera out. If not this weekend maybe next. What do you guys think? i know the topic has been brought up many times about what LT1's can do with more mods then a LS1 i just would like to see it in person and see if the mods really do make a difference to stay up with the LS motors.
At my local quarter mile track when I was stock I got 13.4's constantly in my a4 I raced a lt1 that got constant 13.2's his mods were cold air shorties and 3.73's with an a4. If you both can hook the lt1 will most likely win. They have better torque down low as well

Im not really sure if the LT1 is has more torque. I mean it sure as hell feels like that but I think its becasue of there throttle response. I mean it is an older motor and the cars get newer they dont have as good throttle response as older models.
    But I could be wrong.

What about the opti-spark? That's my primary reason for owning an LS1. If I could find a good, well kept LT1 T/A I would love to have a 6spd one to mod on and my LS1 is too expensive ROFL - no mo credit tho don't ya know.
