This must qualify as one of the most pointless races of all times.
A PowerWheel probably pulls harder than that 81 cutlass.

Congrats, your the proud owner of a 17 second V8 car....stop racing or do a LOT of motor work to that thing. Your giving "old school" muscle a very very bad name. I have a 1978 Cutlass SUpreme Brougham, 32,000 original miles, 260 V8...I imagine it runs 19's or 20's in the quarter. That is why I go to car shows with it and don't race it.
If you want cheap easy power, do a budget 383 sbc build, Vortech heads, air gap intake, headers, decent cam...you will be about 430 hp and 450 tqe at the flywheel. Put it in and go 12's or 13's depending on tires, gears, suspension. Otherwise, leave it alone and don't ever ever race anyone ever again. You got spanked by a slow ass V6 stang, if I was you I would hide forever!

Normally i don't race this car but it has a real "hot rod" look with the big tires, jacked up rear end and paint job so every where i go someone tries to race me or ask "is that thing fast?".i reply: "no it's slow"

Pewter- 2000 Z28 Camaro
I've got a 69 Mustang convertible. It's a pale pastel yellow (Meadowlark Yellow) with black interior and a luggage rack. Nobody ever asks if it's fast. It has run the quarter mile at 14.308 @ 99.1 mph. Certainly not LS1 kinds of performance but a big surprise for smart asses in 4.6L Mustang GT's. I kick the crap out of the 4.6's up to 97 and run pretty even with the 2 valve 4.6's from 98-04. If the GT drivers are paying attention they will hear my cam loping but the smug ones are really great fun to clobber. I had a guy with his GF riding with him try the old pony out three times before he finally turned off with three ass whippings. Couldn't believe this old fat guy in an old lady car was killing him. His GF was laughing her ass off. Damn, I love old iron.
